DARREL HERBERT WOOD

   Darrel H. Wood, 80 of Beaverton died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at Gladwin 
Pines Nursing Home. He was born, Sept. 20 1918 in Gladwin. He married Berniece 
(McKimmy) Wood on Aug 21, 1948 in Beaverton. She survives him. He worked for 
Beaverton Rural Schools as a bus driver and mechanic. He retired in 1981 after 
32 years.
   He was a member of the Beaverton Fire Department for 40 years, fire chief 
for 25 years and Beaverton city marshall for 15 years. He was a veteran and a 
member of VFW No. 7303. Surviving in addition to his wife Berniece, are sons; 
Gary (Kari) Wood of Beaverton; Larry Wood of Beaverton; and one brother, Rex 
Wood of DeWitt. Darrel was predeceased by a grandson, Shawn James Wood  in 
1977. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, 
Gladwin, MI 48624. (517) 426-7651.
