WOODBY The Rev. Perry Hoover officiated at funeral services at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren at 2:30 p.m. Monday for Mrs. Fred Woodby at the Ford Hospital in Detroit following a major operation. Officers of the Beaverton Chapter of the O.E.S. conducted a special service at the grave in the Dale cemetery. Mrs. Woodby was widely known and respected throughout the southern section of the country. She had been a long-time resident of Billings township and her husband has served for seveal years as Smith-Hughes agricultural teacher at the Beaverton school. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barden, Mrs. Grace Woodby was born in Eaton county on June 20 1895. She moved with her parents to Billings township, Gladwin county, when she was a young girl and was married to Fred Woodby on June 29, 1911. The Woodbys brought the Barden farm in Billings township and they have lived there almost continuously since that time. They moved to Mt. Pleasant while their children were in college and later moved to Stanton for a time where Mr. Woodby taught in the Stanton schools. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Conrad, of Chicago, Illinois; three sons, Wayne Woodby, superintendent of schools at Kalkaska; Lt. Lauren Woodby, of Cambridge, Mass.; and Donald Woodby, with the U.S. Navy and stationed at Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Edna Thomas, of Marshall; Mrs. Elga Long of Jackson; Mrs. Iva Kent, of Beaverton; and Miss Fern Barden, of Battle Creek; and three grandchildren.
