He taught in the public schools and later became a minister of the gospel. He was united in marriage to Miss Cynthia Honeycutt of Relief, N.C. Jan. 16, 1881. To this union were born eight children; the fist a son dying in infancy. The surviving daughters are Mrs. Albert Green of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. C. A. Brown of Beaverton, Mrs. Herbert O. Webber of Worcester, Mass., and Mrs. Frank Hayman of Metamora, Ohio; three sons, Jason of Flint; Fred of Beaverton and Isaac of Detroit. The deceased was a great sufferer, having been ill nearly three years, and constantly cared for by his faithful companion. When he knew that death was immiment he summoned his family to his bedside, and passed peacefully into rest on Sunday, Dec. 7, aged 65 years, 4 months and 15 days at his home in Billings township. He leaves behind a wonderful example of a life well spent and every assurance of full preparation for the future. And one clear call for me, And may there be no moaning at the bar, When I put out to sea. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark, And may there be no sadness of farwell, When I embark.
