Born in Sanilac County on April 10, 1893, he had spent his lifetime here. He was a retired farmer and a Gladwin County Road Commissioner for 25 years. Mr. Woodruff was a member of the Billings Missionary Church. He and the former Mary Ellen Crowell were married July 9, 1911, in Billings Township. She preceded him in death January 16, 1969. Surviving are 5 daughters, Mrs. Earl (Lila) Erway and Mrs. Frank (Wanda) Smith of Gladwin, Mrs. Nola Spencer of Beaverton, Mrs. Gerald (Blanche) Wilson of Pinconning and Mrs. Robert (Doris) Bock of Estey; 4 sons, Earl, Howard and Jack of Beaverton and Neal of Gladwin; 34 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Billings Missionary Church. The Rev. Robert Shoaff officiated and burial was in the Billings Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Hall Funeral Home.
