Ridley Gean W. Ridley, 79, passed away Aug. 16, 2006 at his home following a year long illness. He was born Aug. 6, 1927 in Gladwin County to Horatio and Eulaylah (Hetherington) Ridley. Gean married the former Virginia Voigt on Oct. 2, 1948 in Gladwin. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Gean worked as a deputy with the Gladwin County Sheriff’s office for 21 years before retiring in 1990 as sergeant. He was a life member of the Gladwin Masonic Lodge #397, F & AM, and presently held the position of Worthy Patron with the Order of the Eastern Star, White clover Chapter #84. Surviving are his wife, Virginia; two sons, Michael (Donna) Ridley of Gladwin and Timothy (Sarah) Ridley of West Branch; two daughters, Susan (Roger) Phenix of Farwell, and Betty (Emil) Selich of Midland; five grandchildren, Angela and Jeremy Loose, Mark and Tammy McNeil, Bobbi and Ken Arthur, Stacie and Dan Battjes, and Jacqueline Ridley; seven Greatgrandchildren; and three brothers, Bruce (Louise) Ridley of Harrison, Franklin (Alma) Ridley of Schoolcraft, and Arthur and Charlotte Ridley of Clarkston. His parents, two brothers, James and Robert, two infant sisters, and one son-in-law, William McNeil, predeceased him. Services were held Friday Aug. 18 at Sisson Funeral Home. Pastor Linda Jo Powers officiated and burial was in Ridge Cemetery. A Masonic Service was held Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Gladwin or the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
