Wood was born at Morpeth, Ont., Canada, Oct. 26, 1866, and departed this life at his home in Gladwin, Sept. 4, 1929, at his home in Gladwin, Sept. 4, 1929, at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 9 days. He was the eldest son of Martin E. Wood and Catherine Jackson. On June 22, 1889, he was united in marriage to Hannah Francis of Port Burwell, Canada. To this union two children were born, Evelyn, who died at the age of six months and Herbert. Mrs. Wood died in 1895 and was taken to her old home at Port Burwell for burial. In 1896 he was united in marriage to Clara Reigle of Gladwin. To this union three daughters were born, Amanda, (who died with the Flu in 1918) and Myrtle and Mae. In 1903 Mrs. Wood died and was buried in the Ridge cemetery. In August 1905, he was united in marriage to Blanche Imler of Gladwin who patiently cared for him during his long illness. He had given his heart to God and was ready for the final summons. Mr. Wood came to Gladwin from Canada 36 years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, one son, Herbert, of Davison, Mich., three daughters, Mrs. August Behnke and Mrs. Ernest Vannatter, both of Gladwin, and Mrs. Clyde Wilkinson of Indianapolis, Ind., and three grand children, Clare, Darrel and Rex, also one brother, James of Detroit, four sisters, Mrs. George Smith of Duluth, Minn., Mrs. George Stuck of Georgetown; Delaware, Mrs. Dave Wood of Erieau, Ont., and Mrs. Amanda Atchinson of Gladwin, besides a host of relatives and friends.
