Mellow was born in Cornwall, England, July 28, 1861. Twenty years ago he immigrated to the United States and since being a resident of the country has held many responsible positions. Since coming to Wakefield he has been prominent among the mining men but owing to ill health was compelled to give up his profession. He stands high among our citizens and has a friend in every one that makes his acquaintance. No higher testimonial can be give of his ability and the confidence reposed upon him by the people than the following: For seven successive years he has been elected record keeper for the local lodge K.O.T.M.; for six years he has held the office of Village Clerk; in 1898 he was elected justice of the peace and in the last election was re-elected by an overwhelming majority for another term of four years.
