His injuries were not of such nature to cause death but his lungs became filled with powder smoke and traumatic pneumonia set in which caused death. He had been a miner at the Sunday Lake for several years. He leaves a widow, two daughters and a son. The funeral was held Wednesday. A baby girl was born to Mrs. Sam Martinkowski early Wednesday morning. Both mother and child are doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Duffy, of the Wakefield Iron Co. location, are the proud parents of a 7 pound boy born early Monday morning. Frank Kanieski received a post card this week from Andrew Olejinczak, formerly of Wakefield, stating that he was among the captured Russians in the battle between the Austrian and Russian forces on the Bzura river in Poland. He is held a prisoner of war at Kriegsgoff Augenlager, Theresien Stadt, 10th Barake of Austria. His card states that the prisoners are well treated. Mrs. Wm. C. Martens, of Bessemer, received a telegraph Tuesday announcing the death of her aunt, Mrs. Mero, of Menasha, a sister of Mrs. Wm. H. Rogers formerly Mrs. C.J. Ehomas, of Bessemer. And. Gorski had one of his legs broken last Tuesday while trying to life a 300 pound pickle barrel.
