Thursday June 24, 1999: Vera E. Lanham, 93, of Traverse City, formerly of Harrison, passed away Monday June 21, 1999, at Metropolitan Hospital of Grand Rapids. Vera was born August 11, 1905 in Shannon City, Iowa, the daughter of George A. and Edith (Walker) Snyder. Mrs. Lanham had resided in Harrison for many years, before moving to Traverse City in 1995. She was united in marriage to Clarence E. Lanham on June 30, 1941 in Unionville, Missouri. Mr. Lanham preceded her in death in 1983. Vera was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars #408 of Harrison, past treasurer for the Mid Michigan Senior Travel Club of Harrison, the Springwood Lake Association and the Harrison Home and Garden Club. Mrs. Lanham was a member of the First Congregational Church of Harrison. Surviving are two nieces: Mr. Doris Roper and husband Richard of Mears, Michigan and Ms. Diane Jacobs of Orlando, Florida; five nephews: Everett McKenna and wife Maxine of Ames, Iowa; Dennis Snyder of New York; Ralph Johnson of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Dale Johnson and wife Joyce of Whitwell, Tennessee and Douglas Snyder and wife Susan of Kenwood, Michigan plus several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services will be held Thursday June 24, 1999 at l:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Reverend Robert Kauffman officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 21, l999 at 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Prayer Services will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. under the auspices of the Eastern Stars. Memorial contributions may be considered to the First Congregational Church of Harrison. Arrangements were entrusted with Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison.
