AMIDON b. 8 Dec. 1923 d. 15 Nov. 2005 TEC 5 US ARMY WORLD WAR II MARILYN J. AMIDON b. 18 Jan. 1927 -------------------------------------------- Amidon, Arthur R. ARTHUR R. AMIDON, 81, of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at the Hospice House. Funeral services will take place Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at noon, with visitation one hour prior, at Central United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tamara Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery. A complete obituary will be in Friday's edition of the Record-Eagle. Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. "Art" Died November 15, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Arthur Ray Amidon, 81, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at Munson Hospice House. Art was born in Benden, the son of Leslie and Lillian (Briggs) Amidon on Dec. 8, 1923. In 1943 Art answered the call of duty and served in the United States Army during World War II. While working at the State Hospital, Art met the love of his life, Marilyn Brown. They were married in Reed City on Jan. 1, 1955, and enjoyed more than 50 years together. Art was known as a master carpenter whose skill was sought after for over 50 years. He belonged to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and was a former member of the Antique Automobile Club, The Old Engine Club of Buckley, the Buick Club and the Audubon Society. Art had no greater love than his family life with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the wildlife in his backyard and listening to classic music on the radio. Funeral services will take place today, Nov. 18, at noon, with visitation one hour prior, at Central United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tamara Williams will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Munson Hospice House, the National Rifle Association or Central United Methodist Church.
