BROWN, 70, of Boyne City, formerly of Traverse City, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Long Lake Cemetery. A complete obituary will appear in Sunday's Record-Eagle. ------------------------------------------ Frederick E. Brown Died September 8, 2000 BOYNE CITY - Frederick E. Brown, 70, of Boyne City, formerly of Traverse City, died Friday after many years of failing health. Born March 24, 1930, in Traverse City, he was the son of John and Emma (Durga) Brown. On May 22, 1970, in Muskegon he married the former Marilyn Stebbins, who survives. Mr. Brown graduated from Traverse City Central's Class of 1948. He was employed as an administrator and educator for many years in a number of school districts throughout Michigan. For two years he served in the U.S. Army as a cryptographer. He was also an avid sports fan and was a recognized sports official for more than 25 years. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father and a son in infancy. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Long Lake Cemetery with the Rev. Louis Grettenberger officiating. Memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
