      TRAVERSE CITY - Martha Ann 'Marty' Byakowski, 67, of Traverse City, died 
on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. A 
longtime resident of Traverse City area, she was born in Battle Creek, on July 
27, 1936, the daughter of Harley G. and Martha Ann (Davis) Butler. Marty 
married Andrew Byakowski on April 27, 1972, in Traverse City; he called her 
his "Million Dollar Baby."
      Marty was employed at CRM in Traverse City, and was affiliated with the 
Seventh Day Adventist Church.
      She enjoyed crafts, gardening, painting, calligraphy, music and singing. 
She also wrote poetry.
      
      She was preceded in death by her father; her son, Tom Colby; and her 
sister, Theresa Lucille Butler.
      Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2004, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. 
and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Covell Funeral Homes in Traverse City. Funeral 
services will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2004, also at the 
funeral home, with additional visitation one hour prior to the services.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Homes in Traverse City.
