Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. ------------------------------------------- Gwendolyn Page Kingdon Died April 27, 2005 TRAVERSE CITY - Gwendolyn Page Kingdon, 90, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Bortz Nursing Center. Gwen was born March 29, 1915, the daughter of Orval W. and Hazel M. (Carmien) Page. After graduating from High School, Gwen took some college classes and went on to work at different jobs. Her jobs ranged from being a waitress, being a foreman at Parts Mfg., making tank track pads, and eventually retiring after 25 years of being a telephone operator for Michigan Bell. During these working years Gwen was also a housewife and farmers wife. In her retiring years she and her husband spent seven months a year in Arizona. Gwen is survived by two sons, Andy J. (Mona R.) Kingdon of Charlotte and Robert Dale (Michelle) Kingdon of Lake Ann; seven grandchildren, Richard D. Kingdon, Susan L. Clift, David A. Gorton, Katie Kingdon, Thomas L. Kingdon, Jacob D. Kingdon and Jordan Adcocle; five great-grandchildren, Eric N. Kingdon, Brittany L. Kingdon, Tyler Z. Kingdon, Gabriel Gorton and Benjamen Gorton. Also surviving is one brother, Robert L. (Barbara) Page. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Robert Henry Kingdon. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Long Lake Friends Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Keith Huffman will officiate. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to either the Long Lake Friends Church or the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. -------------------------------------------------- TRAVERSE CITY - Robert Henry Kingdon, 91, a lifelong resident of Long Lake Township, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Munson Medical Center. Mr. Kingdon served his country honorably with the United States Army from 1942 through 1946 during World War II. A former farmer, carpenter and auctioneer, he retired from Cone Drive Gear in 1974 after 22 years of service. Mr. Kingdon was a lifelong member of the Long Lake Friends Church, a former church trustee, a member of UAW-CIO Local 21, an assistant Boy Scout leader and a former vice president of the PTA at Long Lake School. He will be fondly remembered for being a good storyteller, joke teller and a person who enjoyed songs. Born April 1, 1912, on the family farm in Long Lake Township, he was the son of Henry Albert and Nellie Jane (Page) Kingdon. On Feb. 14, 1947, in Traverse City, he married the former Gwendolyn L. Page, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Andy J. (Mona) Kingdon of Charlotte and R. Dale (Michelle) Kingdon of Lake Ann; sister, Sadie (Edsel) Wilson of Buckley; brother, Thomas L. Kingdon of Greeley, Colo.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kingdon was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Jennie Hamlin, Edith Hodges and Eva Riehl. Memorial services will be held at the Long Lake Friends Church on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Keith Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
