Page 'Ranger Bob,' passed away on Monday, April 5, 2004, peacefully at his home. He was born on Oct. 4, 1943, in Traverse City, the son of Robert and Nina (Riley) Page. Bob lived his entire life in Traverse City. He graduated from Traverse City High School in 1961, and served in the US Navy from Aug. 27, 1961, until he was honorably discharged on Oct. 3, 1964. Bob was an Order of the Arrow Vigel Member of the Boy Scouts of America since 1985, given the Indian name of Milton Chelet, which translates in English to "one who gives a great deal." His greatest joy in life and scouting was service to others; he had been a Camp Ranger at Camp Greilick since 1991. He loved stock car racing and riding his ARCTIC CAT snowmobile thousands of miles with best friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, all outdoor activities, his Kaboda tractor and most of all, his family and friends. Surviving Bob are his wife, Carol; sons, Robert W. (Charlene) of Escanaba, Steven C. (Laura) of Traverse City; daughter, Virginia 'Ginnie' (Jason) Cater; his children's mother, Carlyn Page; stepchildren, Daniel Washburn of Traverse City, and Jesse Washburn of Petoskey; six grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Katy, Andrew, Thomas and Eddie; his brother, Richard (Dottie) Page of Selma, Ala.; his father, Robert Lloyd and wife, Barb, of Cedar Springs, Mich.; and sisters, Barbara Frank Kanarek of Traverse City, and Patti Hunter (Tony) of Snellville, Ga. He is also survived by his dear friends, Robert Gorcyca Jr. and Terry (June) Martin. He was preceded in death by his mother Nina. A celebration of his life and memorial will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Camp Greilick, 4754 Scout Camp. Traverse City.
