"Tom" Trombley, 73, of Grawn, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning at Munson Medical Center. Tom was born in Merrill on May 20, 1930, the son of Gertrude (Kissane) and Lawrence Trombley. Following graduation from high school, he attended the General Motors Institute. On June 22, 1957, he married the former Patricia Ann Ott at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Saginaw. Tom had been employed as an engineer at Saginaw Steering. In 1988, he and his wife moved to this area. They became members of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Traverse City. A trumpet player, Tom had a great passion for and love of music. He was also a NASCAR fanatic, having a large collection of NASCAR memorabilia. He loved to travel, but enjoyed planning trips just as much. His greatest love and devotion in his life were his wife, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. They will always remember their family vacations, his bedtime stories and Sunday night popcorn parties. Surviving Tom are his wife, Pat; his children, Karen (Dean) McClure of Traverse City, Mark Trombley of Howe, Ind., David Trombley of Raleigh, N.C., Traci Trombley of Traverse City and Toni (Bill) Sweet of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Shane, Darci, Kayla, Jeff, John, Tyler, Brooklynn and Andria; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Carter. He is also survived by his sister, Vivian Gosen, and his brother, Lowell (Mary) Trombley, all of Saginaw. Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Jerry Micketti serving as celebrant. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Long Lake Township.
