Bea was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Evart, the daughter of Howard T. and Olive A. (Leyder) Courtright. She married Walter L. Wares on Feb. 10, 1946, in Evart. Bea worked at Tempo's Store in Traverse City for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #2780 in Traverse City and 4-H for 38 years. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening, especially growing African Violets. She truly loved her family and grandchildren. Bea is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walt Wares of Traverse City; two sons, Cliff Wares and Wally Wares, both of Traverse City; daughter, Deborah (Jim) Shillington of Saline; grandchildren, Jeremy (Leanna) Wares of Iceland, Carla (Scott) Stanley of Alanson, Nicole Wares of Traverse City, Elizabeth Shillington and Jamie Shillington, both of Saline; one great-granddaughter, Rachel Wares; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lucille Lasch and Esther Arnold. Visitation will be held today, Nov. 11, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., from the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at 11 a.m., also from the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Mansfield officiating. Burial will take place in Linwood Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to the First Baptist Church or the VFW Auxiliary.
