Born Dec. 29, 1910, in Traverse City, he was the son of Edward Newton and Daisy Mary (Cole) Williamson. On April 12, 1931, in Traverse City, he married the former Bertha Mae Wheelock, who preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Williamson worked together on their dairy farm until the 1940s and later farmed beef cattle, and had cherry, prune and pear orchards. In 1948, Tracy, LeRoy Wheelock, Art Canfield, Pug Brakel, George Elliott and Don Rennie formed the Progressive Dairy in Traverse City. It was Tracy's responsibility to deliver milk in cream top bottles, which the company introduced to the Grand Traverse area. After the dairy closed, he worked for the Traverse City Light and Power Company as a meter reader for 17 years. Mr. Williamson loved the four seasons of the "North Country" and thoroughly treasured the companionship of his neighbors. He also enjoyed smelt fishing and small game hunting, especially pheasant hunting in South Dakota. Survivors include his daughter, Phyllis Richards of Traverse City; four grandsons, Dennis (Janice) Richards, Douglas Richards, Allen Richards and Daren Richards; five great-grandchildren, Shawn (Scott) Schwark, Keith Richards, Scott Richards, Erick Cihak and Jeremy Richards; two great-great-grandchildren, Kyra Lynn Richards and Lauren Elizabeth Schwark; and many nieces and nephews. Tracy was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, and Donald and Floyd in infancy; and his son-in-law, Gary Richards. Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Marvin Rosa will be officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Long Lake Township Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
