Born Feb. 20, 1984, in Traverse City, he was the son of Philip Dale and Sharon Kay (Barr) Yahr. His family has lost a wonderful son and brother but it is heaven's gain. He brought joy to their hearts and they will treasure every memory they have of him forever. They do not ask themselves why or how, just trust in knowing that while David walked on earth, he walked with Jesus by his side. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastics 3.1 Even in death, Dave was a witness to others. People looked up to him and trusted him. His peers at school recognized that Dave had inner strength not his own. He had so many talents and gave them freely to everyone whether it was playing drums in church, being captain of his hockey team or playing on the junior varisity tennis team at Traverse City West Senior High School where he was to be a sophmore. Dave excelled at them all. He was also a member of the Bayview Wesleyan Church youth group. His friendly and outgoing personality made him a favorite of his teachers and youth group. He lived every moment to the fullest. There was nothing he couldn't do. What will his family do without their Davey? He is survived by his parents of Traverse City; sister, Lisa Yahr, at home; paternal grandparents, Marion and June Yahr of Traverse City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lynn and Doris Barr, and two cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reynolds- Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bayview Wesleyan Church where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jack Steenbergh and Pastor Brian Jones will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Lynwood Cemetery in Long Lake Township. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bayview Wesleyan Church Youth Group.
