'Ted' Hubbard Died December 10, 2005 LAKE ANN - Edward Theodore Hubbard, 90, of Lake Ann and formerly of Lansing, and known to all as Ted, passed away Saturday afternoon, Dec. 10, 2005, at his home. Born on Sept. 30, 1915, in Stephenson, he was the son of Edward Roger and Alice Elizabeth (Sandall) Hubbard. Ted's father, Edward, was a contractor and a member of the State legislature. He was an excellent role model to Ted, and Ted in turn was very proud of him. On June 17, 1939, in Lansing, he married the former Bernice Lucille "Lucy" Foster. They lived in Lansing for 52 years before retiring to their summer home in Lake Ann in 1987. Ted worked for many years for the State of Michigan in the Revenue Department. During the war he went to work for General Motors. He retired in 1974 from the Parts Warehouse Division in Lansing. Ted was a member of the Lansing F & AM Masonic Lodge #33, and was a longtime member of Lake Ann United Methodist Church. An accomplished winemaker, Ted won several prizes for his wine. He was also an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Lucille "Lucy" Hubbard of Lake Ann; his sons, Jon Hubbard of Interlochen and Rev. Gary (Judy) of Earth, Texas; his grandsons, Michael Hubbard, Randy (Gordie) Hubbard, Nathan (Tonya) Hubbard, Brian Hubbard, Aaron (Tammy) Hubbard and Jonathan Hubbard; along with two great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Jack (Mary) Foster of Charlevoix and Robert Lee (Sheila) Foster of Portland. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings. Visitation will take place at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Lake Ann United Methodist Church Education Building (old church in downtown Lake Ann) with his son, The Rev. Gary Hubbard and Ted's pastor, The Rev. Charles Towersey officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Interlochen.
