She was born in Pontiac on Aug. 28, 1941, the daughter of Howard and Mary (Cooper) Blackburn. Sally had worked as a nurse's aide at the Provential House in Traverse City, and also for Birchwood Nursing Center. Later, she worked for Cherry Growers Inc. until her retirement in 1998. Sally was a member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church. She loved living life and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. On July 10, 1958, in Pontiac, Sally married John Hamilton Kennedy, who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Howard (Robin) Kennedy of Honor and John S. (Connie) Kennedy of Interlochen; a daughter, Mary Chalmers of Canada; her mother, Mary Blackburn of Thompsonville; her grandchildren, Brooke Kennedy, Logan Kennedy, David Wittbecker, Christopher Kennedy, Shawn Kennedy, Corie Kennedy, David Shostak, Karrie Shostak, Anthony Shostak, Steven Chalmers and Cassie Chalmers; two great-grandchildren, Devin Fisher and Amber Fisher; two sisters, Norma Frees of Thompsonville and Marilee (Howard) Foust of Thompsonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her father; and her son-in-law, Lance Chalmers in 2002. Visitation will be held today, March 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett- Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, where funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 19.
