'Lee' Vietzke Died March 5, 2000 BLAIR TOWNSHIP - Godelieve M. "Lee" Vietzke, 77, of Blair Township, died Sunday at her home. She was born July 12, 1922, in Belgium, the daughter of Henry and Hortense (Chys) Roose, and came to the United States in 1949. Lee had been a resident of the area for the last 22 years, coming here from Detroit to manage the Coney Island at Cherryland Mall. In June, 1949, she married Adolph Vietzke in Detroit and he preceded her in death in 1974. Lee was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen where she was very active, not only in the church, but in the ladies guild. She was honored by the church in March of 1996 for her dedication to the church ministry. Lee was a volunteer at Grand Traverse Pavilions where she assisted in sewing name tags into and mending clothing, took charge of decorating for holidays, and helped residents make some of the decorations. She was also very involved in the guild, making favors for guild meetings and events. Even her home was decorated beyond imagination for holidays, especially Christmas. Lee was instrumental in forming the Lutheran World Relief Quilt Guild, making lap quilts for underprivileged countries and individuals. She enjoyed working with ceramics and won many blue ribbons for her work at local fairs. Lee never sat idle, she was always busy doing something and had currently been preparing decorations for St. Patrick's Day. Lee had been a special friend to many people throughout the years and will be dearly missed by all. Lee is survived by her children, Albert (Carol) Vietzke of Grosse Point Park, Leon Vietzke of Traverse City, Gertrude (George) Clark of Macomb, and Joyce Palmer of Fraser; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and by a grandson, Gary Clark. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening and from noon until time of services Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the church; the Rev. Timothy Mowry will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Grand Traverse Pavilions. The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
