Born June 3, 1915, in Hopkins, Minn., he was the son of Adolf Zak and Josephine (Odstral) Zak. In 1946, in Massachusetts, he married the former Claire Boudreau. Albin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a carpenter for Zimmerman Construction, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Interlochen VFW Post No. 7493 and he enjoyed building and repairing bicycles. He is survived by three sons, Albin L. (Marie) Zak of Traverse City, Paul (Jo Ellen) Zak of Lake Ann and Kenneth (Sandy) Zak of Fife Lake; two stepsons, Lairy (Jane) Gionet of Mesick and Warren Gionet of Massachusetts; two stepdaughters, Shirley (Mark) Bushnell of Massachusetts and Betsy (Douglas) Erickson of Grawn; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claire, in 1994; grandson, David Gionet; stepson, Stephen Gionet; daughter-in-law, Donna Zak; and his in- laws, Emil and Lea Boudreau. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Interlochen. Military honors will be under the auspices of the VFW Cherryland Post No. 2780.
