Morgan, 76, of Alma, formerly of Charlotte, died May 27, 1989, at Annapolis Hospital in Wayne. Mr. Morgan was born Nov. 25, 1912, in Charlotte, the son of Asa R. Morgan & Mabelle Wright. He married Ferne Palmer on June 30, 1939, in Ann Arbor. He moved to Alma from Charlotte in 1937 and was the founder of the Alma Reminder which he started in January 1938 and owned until his retirement in 1975, when he sold the business to his son, John P. Morgan. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1943-45. He was the last living charter member and past president of the Alma Lions Club, having a perfect attendance record of more than 49 years. He was a life member of the Elks Club No. 1400 of Alma, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 244 F&Am, a charter member and first president of the National Assoc. of Advertising Publishers, past president of the Shopping Guides of Michigan, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alma, and a member of the Pine River Country Club of Alma. He is survived by his wife, Ferne; one son & daughter-in-law, John P. & Karley Morgan of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Carri, Kacie, and Jace Morgan; and a twin brother, Frank of Charlotte. Memorial services were held May 31 at the First Presbyterian Church in Alma.
