Marvel was born in Gratiot County on September 20, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Beaulah (Devereaux) Welch. She married Raymond Rutherford in Ithaca on October 4 1947. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1998. Marvel owned and operated a restaurant for 12 years and worked at Wolverine World Wide in Ithaca for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved to quilt. She is survived by two children, Michael (Patricia) Rutherford of Florida, and Ladonna (John) Hardman; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, George (Marg) Welch of Flint; and two sisters, Viola Hale of Ithaca and Alice Husted of Duck Lake. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Isabell Welch, Mary Sadler, and Margie Andrews; and three brothers, Delbert Welch, Duane Welch, and W.D. (Bud) Welch. Funeral Services were 11am, Tuesday, June 12, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Rev. Robert D. Nystrom officiating. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial conributions may be made to Gratiot Area Hospice. jic
