NORTH GRATIOT PIONEER DEAD
Micajah WOOD, Forest Hill Resident for 40 Years Died Here Friday

Micajah WOOD, 82, fo more than 40 years a resident of Forest Hill, died at Carney
Hospital at Alma 
Friday evening following a short illness caused by throat trouble. 

Mr. WOOD was born in Pennsylvania in 1842 but came to Michigan when he was 16 years
of age, 
settling with his parents in Coe, Isabella County and later removing to Forest Hill.


Mr. WOOD was well and favorably known throughout northern Gratiot County. He was a
member of the 
Christian Church at Forest Hill and also a member of the Masonic Order, the funeral
being held under 
the auspices of the St. Louis Lodge No 188 with interment at the Alma Cemetery. 

He leaves five sons: Leslie of Detroit, Leo of Alma, Mack of Cadillac, Carl and
Harrison of Forest Hill; 
and two daughters: Mrs. Lillie HAMILTON of Forest Hill and Mrs. Minnie PEMBROKE of
Bay City.

Mr. WOOD had the distinction of never having been under the care  of a physician
until just before his 
death.
