Stephen Henry Shippey date of birth September 6, 1843 and date of death January 22, 1924. Nancy Elizabeth (Layman) Shippey was the wife of Stephen Henry Shippey. They were the parents of DeGrasse Shippey, Minnie Shippey and Baby Shippey. Death cerificate shows she was the daughter of George Layman and Nancy Herrou, female, white, married, born May 10, 1853, Indiana and passed away April 21, 1816 Howard City, Montcalm Co., MI at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 11 days, cause of death Colocystitis producing grand infection. Informant Stephen Shippey, Howard City, Mich. Burial was on April 24, 1916 St. Louis, Mich. No other information on Minnie Shippey or Baby Shippey. Inscription on that side of the monument is barely readable. Note: Death records gives birth year of 1853 and headstone 1855.
