STRAKA 1911 - 1963 Note: Florence R. Straka was the daughter of Peter William and Henrietta Rosetta (Gault) Swartz-Reynolds. She was the sister of Jennie Elizabeth (Swartz) Stahl, her twin Claud Swartz who died at birth, Garrett Everett Swartz, Jewell William Swartz, Hila Mae (Swartz) Shelley, Irene Mae (Swartz) Erskin, Charlotte Evelyn (Swartz) McPhail, Letha Fay (Swartz) Jewell, Carl Marion "Lee" Swartz (Letha and Carl were twins), Peter William Swartz II, Henrietta Margaret (Swartz)Pyman and Max Byron. She married Alfred Baker in 1927 and they had the following children: Herbert Baker, Albert Baker, Jr., Vala Dee Gayle Baker, Georgia Belle (Baker) Rogers, and Irene L. (Baker) Kurts. She married Henry John Straka in 1937 and they had three children: Henry John Straka, Jr., Marie Catherine Straka and George Gordon Straka. Obituary - Siant Louis Leader Press October 24, 1963 MRS. STRAKA DIES AT 52 Florence R. Straka, 52, of rural Saint Louis, passed away Thursday, October 17, at her home. He had had been in ill health for the last year. Mrs. Straka was born in Reed City, Michigan, on September 12, 1911, the daughter of Rosetta and Peter Swartz. In 1927 she was united in marriage to Albert Baker. In 1937, she married Henry Straka and they lived in Flint, Michigan until 1954 when they moved to Saint Louis. Surviving are her husband, Henry; 4 sons, Herbert Baker, serving with the U.S. Army; Alfred Baker of Lapeer, Henry Straka Jr. at home and George Straka of Alma; 3 daughters, Mrs. Oscar Rogers and Mrs. Elcony Kurts both of Evart and Mrs. David Dankert of Alma; 8 grandchildren; 4 sisters; Mrs. Donald Pyman and Mrs. Charles Shelley, both of Saint Louis; Mrs. Herman Jewell of Elwell and Mrs. Charlotte Wellman of Sanford and 4 brothers; Jewell Swartz of North Bradley, Peter Swartz of Morely, Max Swartz of Farwell and Carl Swartz of Saint Louis. Funeral services were held Monday, October 21, 1963 from the Carter Funeral Home in Saint Louis. The Rev. Charles Vermilyea of Saint Louis officiated. Burial was at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Saint Louis.
