Hillsdale Standard April 9, 1867
ACCIDENT - William Torrey, an employee of the M.S. & N.I. R.R., at this place, 
met with a severe accident on Sunday last.  He was passing over the road 
between this place and Jonesville on a hand car, for the purpose of inspecting 
the track, and while running on a down grade at a quite rapid speed, his hat 
fell off and in attempting to catch it he slipped and fell upon the track in 
front of the car, which passing over him, broke his leg and otherwise 
seriously injured him.  He was brought to his home in this village where he is 
now lying in a critical condition.
