Born on the family's centennial farm in Jefferson Township, Feb. 23, 1927, he was the son of Orville and Jessie Kretzmar Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a farmer; worked for Hayes-Albion in West Unity, Ohio, for 16-1/2 years, until the plant closing in 1981; was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict; a member of the First Congregational Church, Pittsford; member of Lickley Corners Grange; member of Hillsdale Pomona Grange; member of State and National Grange; and master of Pittsford Grange for many years. On July 14, 1953, he married the former Dorothy Potts in Waldron, she survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Nancy Armstrong, Pittsford; one son, David of Pittsford; four sisters, Adah VanderVlucht, St. Louis, Louise VanderVlucht, Lake City, Cleo Rader, Frontier, and Lola Hoffman, Boynton Beach, Fla; and two brothers, Leo of Midland, and Loren of Trenton. He was preceded in death by one son and one brothers. The funeral service is a 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Eagle Funeral Home, Hudson, with the Rev. Carl Sundermeyer officiating. Burial will be in Leonardson Cemetery, Pittsford. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home.
