William Beard, an old and respected resident of this village, passed away suddenly, Sunday night. Mr., Beard who was seventy-five years of age, was born in Chesshire, England, and came to this country in 1849. In 1859, he was united in marriage to Miss Jeanette Campbell. He resided for some time, at New York Mills, New York. In 1865, the deceased moved with his family, to Michigan, soon after settling in Jonesville where he has resided ever since. In younger life, Mr. Beard was a mechanic. For many years he was a partial invalid. He was a great reader and an ardent student of nature. Cut off in large measure, from social enjoyment, on account of the affliction of deafness, he found firm friends in his books and in the plants and flowers he prized so highly. He was a competent judge of good literature and a thorough student of nature. The wife of the deceased survives, their fiftieth wedding anniversary having bee observed early two years ago. Four children are living, being Mrs. Jessie Klefish, John ad David Beard ad Miss Mary Beard, all of this place. Two grandchildren, Clyde ad Ethel Klefish, have always made their home, since infancy, with their grandparents. One sister, Miss Bessie Beard of New York Mills, also survives. Funeral services were conducted from the late home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. O. F. Bulman officiating.
