She was born in Wayne Co., State of New York, July 13, 1841. Came with her parents to Hillsdale Co., Michigan, in 1846. She was the youngest living of a family of twelve children - two brothers and two sisters survive her. She was converted to the Christian religion at the early age of 14 years. She then united with the Methodist denomination, and held her membership with that church at the time of her death. She was married to Charles Cook, March 13, 1862. Two children was the result of this marriage. She had always lived on the farm wherre her parents settled. Had been an invalid and cripple about fifteen years. During these years of suffering, she was patient and cheerful and ministered to the wants of her family to a wonderful extent, and was ever ready to lend a helping hand to aid a neighbor, and never failed to express her gratitude for the slightest of favors. On account of her decrepency she could not attend religious services on the Sabbath day as she desired, but helped to support the Sabbath School, and was almost always present in her class to help as a teacher. Even the children always spoke of Aunt Charity (as she was familiarly called) with pity and love. She leaves a faithful husband and two sons, who deeply mourn her loss. Her neighbors also mourn her loss, on account of her many virtues and moral excellence, and truly symphasize with the afflicted family, who will so much miss her motherly care. We would not murmer, because our Heavenly Father has called her to her reward, but will ever cherish in our memory, feeling assured that the PURE IN HEART will be reunited in that world of Light, Love and Joy.
