Frye, daughter of Almond and Arethusa Frye, was born in Wheatland Township, Hillsdale County, Michigan, December 7, 1863, and passed to her heavenly reward February 12, 1939, aged 75 years, 2 months and 5 days. She was married to William H. Cook of Adams township, March 29, 1893, and came to reside on the farm where her son Ward and family now live, and with the exception of a few years spent at Owosso and North Adams, this vicinity has remained her home. Here Mr. Cook preceded her in death August 23, 1930. She was a teacher in the public schools of Hillsdale county for twenty-five years and her strong principles of truth, her high ideals of Christian living and her splendid leadership will long be cherished by those with whom she associated. Her lifetime was passed in the Methodist Church, first at West Wheatland, and later she became a faithful and devoted member of Osseo M. E. Church, where she was an earnest participant in both its worship and work for nearly forty-six years. Her presence was an inspiration. No organization meant more to her than her church and she had served in numerous positions of responsibility. She was a member of the Sunday school, the Ladies' Aid Society, and the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of Osseo, and the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of North Adams. Her passing leaves the son Ward and wife, two granddaughters, Beth and Janet Cook, more distant relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Osseo at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, following a prayer service at the home of her son. The Rev. C. J. Kendall, pastor of the church, officiated, and Miss Orpha Johnson and Mrs. Carl Perrin sang "The Home of the Soul" and "The City Four Square." Bearers were Fred R. Williams, Melvin Robins, Fred Moses, Ed Smith, Lewis Van Marter and Claude Boardman. Burial took place in East Hill cemetery beside her husband William Cook who died eight years ago. Relatives and friends from away to attend the funeral were Mrs. Ethel Frye and son Lorraine of Inkster, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kalder of Quincy, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Keefer of Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cook and daughter Laura Gene of Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cook and son Paul of Hillsdale and Miss Alice Fowler of Toledo. The church was filled with other friends and associates from this community and from nearby towns. Servant of God, well done. The cares of life are past, The battle's fought, The victory won, And thou art crowned at last.
