Hillsdale Daily News Feb 16 1886 
"Another Pioneer Gone"

Died in Ransom, Hillsdale co., Mich., of disease of the heart and general 
debility, Mr. Enoch H. Goodrich, aged 64 years 4 months and 21 days, Mr. 
Goodrich was born in Washington county Pennsylvania Dec. 12, 1821.  At the age 
of about 12 years he moved with his parents to Morrow co., Ohio and from 
there, after becoming of age, to Fulton, Co., Ohio where he became acquainted 
with and on the 4th day of July 1844, was married to Almira M. Gay, resided 
there until March, 1847, when he moved to Ransom, Michigan where he arrived on 
the 6th of the same month and in April following he moved on the farm where he 
has since lived; Ransom then being almost an unbroken wilderness.  Mr. G. was 
one of Ransom's worthy and esteemed citizens, holding at different times 
affairs of trust and honor, and in the fall of 1861 at his country's call 
enlisted as a fifer in co F, 11th Reg. Michigan Vol, but on account of his 
failing health, In June 1862 was honorably discharged by order of surgeon's 
certificate of disability and has since that time drawn a pension.  Mr. G. was 
a straight and consistent Republican in politics and always at the polls.  He 
has been for years an acceptable member of the U.B. church and died in full 
faith of a glorious immortality beyond the grave. He leaves a wife and three 
children to mourn his loss; two daughters, Mrs. Rhoda Hillard and Mrs. Sarah 
A. Wolf, and one son, John S, they were all living near and saw him often 
during his last sickness, and ministered to his wants and were all present at 
his funeral.  He has been unable to perform any labor for about a year and was 
confined to his room about three weeks.
