Hoover, age 66, of 490 Vicary Rd., Cement City was pronounced dead on arrival at 8:15 p.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital in Jackson. He was born May 18, 1903 in Hillsdale the son of William and Myrtle Redman Hoover. He married Bessie Carncross on August 18, 1926 and lived in Hillsdale for over 50 years prior to moving to Pleasant Lake and Cement City. Mr. Hoover was a Correction Officer at Southern Michigan Prison for over 21 years until ill health forced his retirement. In addition to being a member of the Masonic Lodge #32, F & A.M. of Hillsdale, he also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star #162 of Hillsdale. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons: William J. of Cement City, Max E., of Hillsdale, two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Bessie) DeVore of Hudson, Mrs. Werner (Joy) Kaipio of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brown Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. John Gillette of the Cement City Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be made at Maple Grove Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Hillsdale Co.
