He was the son of Aaron and Elizabeth Miller and was one of a family of nine children, six sons and three daughters. Of a large family but one brother, Sanford Miller of Somerset, survives. One brother died in the army. Deceased came to Michigan with his parents in 1853 when a lad of seven years. His life has nearly all been spent on the farm in Somerset, Hillsdale County, the old homestead where he passed away, at the age of 61 years 1 month and 16 days. He was married to Emily Tenney Dec, 13, 1868. To this union two children were born, Rosa E. and Otto G. Mr. Miller a year ago last Nov. was stricken with the fatal disease, cancer. Medical skill, kind and loving care has been given him but of no avail. Although able to be about, the change was marked; a week previous to his death an artery was severed and he was confined to his bed and on Tuesday evening Jan. 7, 1908, as the shades of night were falling, patiently bearing the burden with his loved ones about him, he peacefully passed away. Left to mourn his demise is a sorrowing wife, one son and wife, four grandchildren, a devoted daughter and one brother who will sadly miss him. He was a highly respected citizen, an honored member of Jerome Grange. The many who called him friend ever found him loyal and true and our hearts are bound in sincerest sorrow with the desolate ones. Another hand is beckoning us, another call is given, And glows once more with Angel steps, The path which reaches Heaven. Alone unto our Father's will one thought hath reconciled; That he whose love exceedeth ours hath taken home his child. Funeral services at Jerome church, Friday at one o'clock January 10, 1908. Rev.
