M. Monroe Dies at 94

PITTSFORD - Mortimer C. Monroe, 94, farmer and member of board of directors of 
Hillsdale Co. Telephone Co. died Monday morning at Thorn Hospital, Hudson 
(patient since July 23).

Lived at 1104 Union Rd., Pittsford - where he was born.

Pittsford oldest living graduate - 1895.  Former funeral director in Ransom 
Twp., then employed by Bell Telephone Company in Muncie, Indiana, returning to 
Pittsford after 14 years.

Member of South Pittsford Methodist Church, Sunday School superintendent, and 
board member - later a member of First Congregational Church of Pittsford.

Member of IOOF, Muncie, Ind., Hudson Senior Citizens, former school board 
member of Round Top School of Pittsford.

Born in Pittsford Twp April 26, 1878 to Guilford and Fannie Severance Monroe.  
Married Nettie M. Baker who died in 1947, then Hazel Hackett Bizoe who died in 
1962.

Survived by widow Lucy Harris LaFollettee Monroe, 1 daughter, 2 sons, 9 
grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren.  One brother preceded him.

Funeral Thursday at 1:30 at Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home, Hudson - burial in 
Maple Grove Cemetery, Hudson.
