Hall & Lydia Kelsey, aged 80 yrs., 9 mos., 28 days Row 9 (From West End) Additional Comments: Elijah served as Pittsford's first Supervisor and Justice of the Peace. He served as Supervisor (1836-8, 1840 & 1849), as town clerk (1842, 1881-82), Post Master (1840-1843) and Justice of the Peace (1836, 1840) and the State of Michigan as a member of the Legislature in 1839. Elijah was made an Elder in 1836, of the Presbyterian Church of Bean Creek; renamed the Presbyterian Church of Hudson and Pittsford and then to the Congregational Church of Hudson and Pittsford and finally as the Congregational Church of Hudson. Elijah was one of the first to enroll in the Hillsdale County Pioneer Society serving as one of the original members and First Vice-President.
