Harriet was born, 19 Jun 1874, Rockland, (Ontonagon), Michigan, and died 19 Oct 1919, Oakland (Alameda) California. Harriet married Thomas PAYNTER 23 Nov 1895, in Houghton County, Michigan. Thomas was born 12 Dec 1865, Bruce Mines (Algoma District) Ontario, Canada, the oldest child of Thomas PAYNTER and Elizabeth JEFFERY. Harriet's granddaughter, Dorothea Ann Harriet MESSNER, passed the autograph book on to me shortly before her death 31 Dec 1996, in Walnut Creek (Contra Costa) California. Harriet RULE is my great grandaunt. The book's condition is fragile. The cover is a blue velvet, and the word Album is set against a gold background. In the book there are several references to Groverton. This was the name of a small town in Houghton County, Michigan which subsequently changed its name to Hubbell.
