Houghton County, Michigan
Greeting:Marriage may be solemnized between Mr. Gust Haapala and Mrs. Sophia 
Lassila, affidavit having been filed in this office, as provided by public act 
No. 128, Laws of 1887, as amended, by which it appears that said Gust Haapala 
is 44 years of age, color is white, residence is Hancock, Mich., and birhtplace 
was Finland, Europe, occupation is Merchant, father's name Lauri Haapala, and 
mother's mainden name was Johanna Heikkenen, has been previously married no 
times; and that said Sophia Lassila is 39 years of age, color is white, 
residence is Hancock, Mich., and birthplace was Finland, Europe, occupation is 
At Home, fahter's name Isaac Nyybacka, and mother's maiden name was Unknown, 
and has been previously married once time, and whose maiden name was Sophia 
Nybacka, and whose parent or guardian consent, in case she has not attained the 
age of eighteen years, has been filed in my office.
In witness Whereof, I have hereunto attached my hand and the seal of Houghtton 
County Michigan, this d19th day of April, A. D. 1919.

Between Mr. Gust Haapala and Mrs. Sophia Lassila
I hereby Certifyu that, in accordance with the above license, the persons 
herein mentioned were joined by me, at Hancock, County of Hoguhton, Michigan, 
on the second day of May, A.D. 1919, in the presense of Mrs. K. H. Mannerkorpi, 
of Hancock, Mich., and Mrs. John Makinen, of Hancock, Mich., as witnesses.

Additional Comments:
Sophia Nyybacka Lassila was my great grandmother.  My  grandfather, John A. 
Larson,was born to her and August Toivonen in Merikarvia Finland in Apr 1893.  
Gust Haapala was her third husband.
