HURON DAILY TRIBUNE, Bad Axe, Huron County, Michigan Local Obituaries Week of September 3, 2000 Evelyn Ruby Evelyn Caroline Ruby, 75, of Kingston passed away Wednesday Sept. 6, 2000, at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor where she received very loving care for several days. Evelyn was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Sigel Township, Huron County, the daughter of Matilda and William Schuman. She married William (Jack) Ruby on July 28, 1945, in Bad Axe. She was a member of the Lutheran church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and feeding birds, and looked forward to the hummingbirds returning every spring. Nurturing her family provided great pleasure for Evelyn. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Gary Ruby and his wife, Thersesa, of Rochester Hills, and James Ruby and his wife, Dorothy, of Marlette; two brothers, Harold Schuman and his wife, Betty, and Donald Schuman and his wife, Arvilla, all of Bad Axe; one step-grandson, Jason Schlueter; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Ray Sting, representing the Lutheran Brotherhood, officiating. Burial will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery, Bad Axe. Visitation will take place from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the United Hospice Service or the charity of the donor's choice. Noreen Caughlin Noreen M. Caughlin, 77, of Valdosta, Ga., and a summer resident of Forestville, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2000, at the home of her son in Chevy Chase, Md., following a long illness. She was born in Michigan on March 6, 1923, to the late William and Marion (Haveland) Potts. She and Ret. Lt. Col. Michael Caughlin were married on Jan. 31, 1941, in Highland Park. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1984. She was a member of the Altar Guilds of her church and volunteered at various hospitals. Noreen is survived by her children, Michael Caughlin and his wife, Margaret, of Chevy Chase, Md., Pat Volz and her husband, Frank, of New Jersey, Bill Caughlin and his wife, Elaine, of California, Mary Beth Burnett and her husband, Wayne, of Massachusetts, Kevin Caughlin of Valdosta, Ga., and John Caughlin and Kristin of Arizona; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marion Houlihan, Joanne Johnson and Sally Mastracci; and two brothers, Charles (Bud) Potts and John Potts. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in St. John Catholic Church in Forestville with the Rev. Ronald Dombrowski, pastor, officiating. John Koroleski Sr. John Andrew Koroleski Sr., 56, of Filion died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw. He was born May 31, 1944, in Kinde. He was the son of the late Raymond and Gertrude (Wisneski) Koroleski. He was a 1963 graduate of Kinde High School. Mr. John Koroleski and Miss Margaret Pyrek were married on Feb. 15, 1969, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dwight. John worked at Active Industries, Inc., as a hi-lo driver for some 32 years before retiring in February 1999. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, playing cards, especially euchre, polka music and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Margaret, of Filion; three sons, Raymond Koroleski of Standish, John Koroleski Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Port Austin and Richard Koroleski of Filion and his fiancee, Kristie Szymanski; two daughters, Joann Toner and her husband, Greg, of Filion and Marie Koroleski of Bad Axe and her fiancee, Roy Solis; five grandchildren, Raymond Toner, Thomas Toner, Jason Clancy, Stacey Clancy and Dana Clancy; one brother, Gerald Koroleski of Bad Axe; three sisters, Marie Kozlowski and her husband, Earl, of Kinde, Gloria Lasceski and her husband, Sal, of Centerline and Connie Ornowski and her husband, Jim, of Filion; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita and Joann Koroleski. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dwight. Schnepp, 80, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2000, at her home following a three month illness. She was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Sebewaing, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Ida (Pobanz) Gremel. She was united in marriage to Paul F. Schnepp on June 1, 1946, in Sebewaing. Alma was a beautician for several years and then with her husband operated Schnepp's Paint and Wallpaper store in Sebewaing for 35 years before retiring in July 1982. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was an avid gardener. Surviving besides her husband, Paul, are two daughters, Connie Schnepp of Houston, Texas, Barbara Hofmeister and her husband, Franklin, Jr., of Buena Vista, Colo.; one grandson, Aaron Hofmeister; one sister, Ruth Reithel of Sebewaing; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Gremel, Sr., and Victor Gremel. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Charles Kuhl will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Hein, 91, of Harbor Beach passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in Mount Clemens General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Owendale on July 28, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ida (Bartholomy) Farson. She was a graduate of Sienna Heights College and was a retired teacher. She taught in many country schools throughout the area and taught in Elkton and Port Hope schools. She and Harold Hein were married Dec. 26, 1942, in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1982. Eletha was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. She also was a member of the Huron County Retired School Persons and the State of Michigan Retired Teachers. She is survived by a daughter, Marcia Mitchell and her husband, Bruce, of Clinton Township; two sons, Gary Hein and his wife, Randi, of Brea, Calif., and Harold Hein and his wife, Kim, of Reese; six grandchildren; a half-brother, Robert Gallaugher of Rochester Hills; and a half-sister, Eleanor Burke of Arizona. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lela Goyette. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach with Fr. Gerald Kukla, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A parish vigil service will be conducted at 8 p.m. tonight in the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach. Dorma Kajcienski Dorma Dawn Kajcienski of Tallahassee, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in Tallahassee. A native of Battle Creek, she had lived in Tallahassee since 1992. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, Ill., with her R.N. degree, and worked as the head psychiatric nurse at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Battle Creek. She is survived by two sons, Geoffrey Kajcienski and his wife, Joan, of Tallahassee, and Jerome Kajcienski and his wife, Andrea, of Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Charles Roche of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Doris MacBeth of Pensacola; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee. Sara Jamieson Sara Mae Jamieson, 80, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Caseville, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000. She was born Aug. 19, 1920. She is survived by two sons, Terry Chapin and his wife, Pat, of Gagetown, and Rick Chapin of North Hollywood, Calif.; two daughters, Ginger Hoppe and her husband, Howard, of Sebewaing, and Jody Bumhoffer and her husband, Gary, of Escondido, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clare Heron of Caseville; and four sisters, Eva Grigg, Esther Stirrett and Barbara Diller, all of Caseville, and Beatrice Anklam of Pigeon. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Heron and Francis Heron; and three sisters, Leona Kreh, Isabel Kreh and Sybil Heron. Cremation took place in Las Vegas. A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Pigeon. Stella Pisarek Stella E. Pisarek, 92, of Gagetown passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2000. She was born in Pittsburg, Pa., on May 5, 1908, the daughter of Stanley and Anna Darmofal. On June 27, 1931, she married Michael Pisarek at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Detroit. The Pisareks moved to Gagetown in 1946 and became members of St. Agatha Catholic Church where Stella joined its Women's Society. She was a member of the Williamson Farm Bureau, the Gagetown Farmers Club and the Owen-Gage Senior Citizens. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and visiting with family and friends. Surviving along with Michael, her loving husband of 69 years, are their sons, Leonard Pisarek, Michael Pisarek, Jr., and his wife, Drucilla, and Bernard Pisarek, all of Gagetown; grandchildren Michelle Seavey and her husband, David, of Lansing, and Mark Pisarek of Davison and his fiancee, Dawn Beardslee, of Lakeview; a brother, the Rev. Fr. Mitchell Darmofal of Chicago; and a sister, Josephine March of Dearborn; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ann; her brothers, Vincent and Louis; and sisters, Mary and Helen. Theodore VanHorn Theodore Ray VanHorn, 80, of Deford died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Deford Community Church, Deford, with the Rev. David Mercer officiating. Pallbearers will be Eric VanHorn, Kevin VanHorn, Ray VanHorn, Dean VanHorn, Edward VanHorn, Paul VanHorn and David Wice. Interment will be in the Kingston Cemetery, Kingston. Preston Hale Preston Hale, 62, of McKinleyville, Calif., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Erma; one son, Robert Baxter and his wife, Phyllis, of Bad Axe; two daughters, Cathy and Lori and her husband, Mike, all of McKinleyville; and five grandchildren, Michelle, Daniel, Nicole, Jennifer and Clinton. Hartwick, 62, of Deford died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Lapeer General Hospital following an automobile accident. He was born Nov. 16, 1937, in Cass City to Arthur Allen and Anna Maria (Hergenreder) Hartwick. He married Iva M. Thom on Dec. 13, 1958, in Sandusky. Allan was a dairy and crop farmer for many years. He also was a heavy equipment operator for Iafrate and drove truck for Ferrel Gas. Allan served on the Novesta Township Zoning Board and was a former member of the Cass City School's Board of Education. Allan was an elder of his church. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. Allan loved people and had many friends. Allan is survived by his wife, Iva; his children, Lynn Kilbourn and her husband, Lee, of Deford, Cort Hartwick and his wife, Dawn, of Deford, Lori Welch and her husband, Rick, of Cass City and Carla Clink and her husband, Randy, of Caro; grandchildren, Bryan, Aaron, Jamie and Justin Kilbourn, Heaven Leigh Hartwick, Micah Randall and Mistie and Rickie Welch; a sister, Hazel Ann Boissonneault of Lawrenceville, Ga.; many nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adolph and Helen Thom of Peck. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dorothey LaDouceur Dorothey Mae LaDouceur, 86, of Port Austin died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at her home. She was born on May 15, 1914, in Detroit, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Lewandowski) Kirchoff. She and Leonard LaDouceur were married on Oct. 17, 1930, in Bowling Green, Ohio. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1986. Dorothey enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with her friends and family. She was a member of the U & I Club, the Port Austin Senior Citizens and the United Protestant Church in Port Austin. She is survived by three children, Shirley Walsh and her husband, Richard, of Port Austin, Ronald LaDouceur and his wife, Rita, of Commerce Township and Robert LaDouceur and his wife, Charlene, of Detroit; eight granddaughters, Donnelle, Rochelle, Christie, Jeannine, Tracine, Justine, Arlene and Nicole; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Moore; her grandson, Jadeison; two sisters, Verna Kirchoff and Elsie Walters; and two brothers, Armond and Arthur Kirchoff. Funeral arrangements were handled by Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. Clinton Law Clinton L. Law, 83, of Cass City died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in Marlette Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 9, 1916, in Huron County to Lewis and Lottie (Wadsworth) Law. He married Margaret L. Merchant on Oct. 16, 1937, in the Cass City Presbyterian Church. Clinton was a dairy farmer until 1957. He bought Law Feed & Supply, later selling it to Farm Bureau, but he continued as a salesman. He worked for Ralston Purina, Borden Chemical Co. as business manager, and he retired from Caro Building Center in 1979 after 10 years. Clinton was a member of the Cass City Presbyterian Church, which he joined in 1932. He served as a deacon and elder. He was active with 4-H. Clinton enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and he enjoyed square dancing. He truly enjoyed caring for his beautiful lawn. Clinton is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Sherry Dillon and her husband, Wayne, of Cass City and Delbert Law and his wife, Shirley, of Whitmore Lake; grandchildren, Jeff Dillon and his wife, Julee, Scott Dillon and his wife, Suzanna, and Elizabeth Law; a great-grandchild, Jaydee Dillon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert Law; and a sister, Gertrude MacCullum. Funeral services took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at the Cass City Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mark Morningstar of Sandusky Presbyterian Church officiating. Richard Maxwell Richard Howard Maxwell, 53, of Richmond and formerly of Pigeon, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000. Richard was born on Aug. 15, 1947, in Pigeon, son of Howard and Ella (Menzel) Maxwell. He was a graduate of Laker High School in Pigeon. Richard served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and was a Bronze Star recipient. He was a former driver for Elkton Ambulance and a former deputy for the Huron County Sheriff's Department, and he was a driver for A.K.M. Trucking. On July 28, 1999, he married Gardenia O'Rourke Livingston in Romeo. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and his Alaskan Malamute. Surviving are his wife, Gardenia; his son, Cory David Maxwell of Bad Axe; his daughter, Heather Smith and her husband, Eric, of Pigeon; his mother, Ella Griem of Port Austin; his grandmother, Alma Menzel of Bay Port; a granddaughter, Brittany Smith; his stepchildren, James Michael Livingston II, Brian Keith Aupperle and Deidre Rose Livingston, all of Richmond; and his sisters, Marge Rabideau and her husband, Ron, of Elkton, Beverly Leyva and her husband, Paul, of Gagetown, Barb Maxwell of Caseville, and Ila Wichert and her husband, Kevin, of Bay Port. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Howard Maxwell. Tenbusch, Jr., 71, of Ruth passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his home with his family following a long illness. Born on March 9, 1929, in Detroit, he was the son of Beatrice (Halifax) Tenbusch and the late Alphonse Tenbusch, Sr. He and Geraldine Terbrack were married on Aug. 27, 1949, at SS. Peter and Paul Church in Ruth. Alphonse sailed on the Great Lakes for three years and farmed and worked for the Surface Mausoleum Co. in Minden City for 30 years, and he was a security guard for 15 years. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Usher's Club since 1951, the sexton of the church cemetery for 38 years, and a charter member of the Ruth Knights of Columbus Council No. 3823. He was an avid softball player for many years. Hein, 91, of Harbor Beach passed away Monday morning, Sept. 4, 2000, in the Mount Clemens General Hospital following a short illness. Marian Haug Marian J. Haug, 76, of Sebewaing died unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Sebewaing, the daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Kohtz) Gallow. She was united in marriage to Jacob Haug on Feb. 22, 1953, in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1978. Marian had been employed in the housekeeping department of the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for 10 years before retiring and moving to Sebewaing in 1979. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. She is survived by three nieces; one nephew; great nieces; one great-great-nephew; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Gremel, Sebewaing. She was preceded in death by one sister, Hannah Gremel, and one brother, Ferdinand Gallow. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at the Dinkel- Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Gerald Meyer, vacancy pastor, will officiate.
