Essenmacher, 82, of Harbor Beach passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw, following a brief illness. Surviving are her husband, Edward (Fritz) Essenmacher of Harbor Beach; daughters, Marlene Kirsch and her husband, Ronald, of Harbor Beach, Joan Sanseverino and her husband, James, of Crystal Lake, Ill., Nancy Beneicke and her husband, John, of Bloomfield Hills, Jean Holdwick and her husband, Herbert, of Plymouth and Elaine Kranz and her husband, Jerry, of Harbor Beach; sons, Gerald Essenmacher and his wife, Yvonne, of Washington and Paul Essenmacher and his wife, Carol, of Harbor Beach; 32 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; brothers, Marcus Siemen and his wife, Ferry, of Harbor Beach, Lavern Siemen of Harbor Beach, Clem Siemen and his wife, Marjorie, of Harbor Beach and Allen Siemen and his wife, Mabel, of Marne; and sisters, Alma Woychowski and her husband, Ray, and Doreen Hagedon, all of Harbor Beach. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Konieczka, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Duane Guenther Duane Guenther, 65, of Sebewaing departed this earthly life to be with his Lord on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Surviving besides his wife, Betty, are two sons, one daughter and spouses: Douglas Guenther and his wife, Katie, of Saginaw, Scott Guenther and his wife, Catherine, of Rochester, and Julie Davis and her husband, Matt, of Maple City; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Rachael, Derek, Leah and Amy Guenther and Bailey and Byrn Davis; four sisters, Deloris Tucker of Alma, Elaine Sparks of Clio, Donna Debowski and her husband, Otto, of Unionville, and Norma LaFave and her husband, Bud, of Bay City; two brothers, Lyle Guenther and his wife, Jeanne, of Caro, and Charles Guenther of Grayling; his mother-in- law, Catherine Schafer of Sebewaing; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. The Rev. Martin J. Hagenow will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in Columbia Township Cemetery in Unionville. Emma Nichols Emma R. Nichols, 76, of Decker died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000. Emma is survived by her children, Dallas Nicholas and his wife, Kathy, of Snover, Philip Nichols and his wife, Kathy, of Caro, Pam Ouvry and her husband, Donald, of Cass City, and Douglas Nichols of Decker; grandchildren, Deanna Orlando and her husband, Steven, Andy Nichols and his wife, Lee, Shelley Erla and her husband, Greg, Melissa Teitjens and her husband, Dennis, Jeffrey Ouvry, Ryan Ouvry, Eve Nichols and Elise Nichols; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Alyssa, Jeremy and Kristin; sisters Naomi Lindsay of AuGres and Irma Jacobs and her husband, Kendall, of Decker; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Bernard Maurer The Lord called Bernard Maurer to Heaven during the first snow storm of the year on Jan. 13, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Bad Axe; five daughters, Beverly Czewski and her husband, Joseph, of Ubly, Nancy Mazure and her husband, Virgil, of Bad Axe, Pat Dekoski and her husband, Kenneth, of Ruth, Elaine McLeod and her husband, Jim, of Wisconsin, and Theresa Micklash and her husband, Ken, of Cass City; four sons, Philip Maurer and his wife, Marge, of Bad Axe, Clem Maurer and his wife, Cindy, of Bad Axe, Clarence Maurer and his wife, Leona, of Bad Axe, and Leonard Maurer and his wife, Karen, of Florida; 27 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Maurer and his wife, Mary Lou, of Ubly; two sisters, Betty Platko of Saginaw and Phoebe Pankurst and her husband, Alvin, of Oklahoma. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. The Rev. Jack Leipert, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Charles "Bud" Anderson Charles "Bud" John Anderson, 82, of Caseville died Monday morning, Jan. 10, 2000, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Josephine; three sons, David Anderson and his wife, Ann, of Plymouth, Michael Anderson of Bookla, Fla., and Charles Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of Humble, Texas; three daughters, Joan Makowski and her husband, Al, of Algonac, Kathleen Rachul and her husband, Jerry, of Lexington and Leona Randall and her husband, Ronnie, of Redford; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Virginia Amon of Caseville. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at St. Roch Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk, pastor, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Theodore Pochert Theodore A. Pochert, 94, of Port Hope passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in Harbor Beach Community Hospital following a short illness. Ted is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Pochert of Port Hope; one son, Keith Pochert and his wife, Patricia, of Lansing; five daughters, Suellen Emerick and her husband, Raymond, of Port Hope, Phyllis Oparka and her husband, Calvin, of Shelby Township, Audrey Pochert of St. Clair Shores, Norma Safran and her husband, Mark, of Clinton Township and Kathleen Mausolf and her husband, Ronald, of Port Hope; 12 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Last and her husband, Norman, of Clio. Genevieve Essenmacher Genevieve Marie Essenmacher, 70, resident of Bad Axe in Colfax Township, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 11, 2000, at her home following a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Marvin; four children, Duane Essenmacher and his wife, Marie, of Saginaw, Jerry Essenmacher of Portage, Renee Essenmacher of Grand Rapids, and Karen Snider and her husband, John, of Cedar Springs; four grandchildren, Heather Essenmacher, Elise Essenmacher, Spencer Snider and Addison Snider; two brothers, John Prill and his wife, Marilyn, of Bad Axe, and Albert Prill and his wife, Lorraine, of Shelby Township; and many nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Bad Axe. Clayton Jackson Clayton S. Jackson, 80, of Livonia and formerly of Bad Axe, passed away Jan. 8, 2000. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at First Baptist Church of Livonia, 17725 Inkster Road. Dolly Jaye Dolly G. Jaye, 82, of Cass City died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 11, 2000, in Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with Debra L. Kranz, funeral celebrant, officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Frank Mazure Frank J. Mazure, 100, of Harbor Beach passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in the long term care unit of Harbor Beach Community Hospital following an extended illness. Frank is survived by six children and their spouses: Gertrude Wolschleger and her husband, Leonard, of Harbor Beach, Melvin Mazure and his wife, Virginia, of Marysville, Rose Marie Cooper and her husband, Gordon, of Harbor Beach, Raymond Mazure and his wife, Barbara, of Harbor Beach, Lorraine Ganse and her husband, Harry, of Lancaster, Pa., and James Mazure and his wife, Carol, of Harbor Beach; 34 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Booms, 85, of Sand Beach Township near Harbor Beach passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in the long-term care unit of Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Helen is survived by four sons, Marvin Booms and his wife, Virginia, of Harbor Beach, Paul Booms and his wife, Shirley, of Harbor Beach, Michael Booms and his wife, Linda, of Shelby Township, and Lloyd Booms and his wife, Elizabeth, of Ubly; four daughters, Donna Pulcer and her husband, Raymond, of Harbor Beach, Sr. Jean Booms, IHM, of Monroe, Eileen Volmering and her husband, Jerome, of Harbor Beach, and Sharon Messing and her husband, Calvin, of Long Island, N.Y.; 28 grandchildren; 35 great- grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in the church cemetery. John Burns John Jefferson Burns, 81, of Cass City, formerly of Kingston, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw. John is survived by his wife, Wanda; children, Patricia Vaught and her husband, Clyde, of Mayville, John C. Burns and his wife, Mary Lou, of Cass City, and Mary Johnston and her husband, Thomas, of Frankenmuth; grandchildren, Mike Walker and his wife, Angela, Joy Perkins and her husband, Randy, Amy Harneck, Julie Swain and her husband, David, Stephanie Hutchinson and her husband, David, and Lisa Burns; great-grandchildren Andy, Rista, Joshua, Kyle, Courtney, Rachel and Nathan; two great-grandchildren due in the spring; a sister, Marjorie Torr; and many nieces and nephews. Genevieve Carriveau Genevieve J. Carriveau, 85, of Bad Axe passed away on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Huron Memorial Hospital following an apparent heart attack. Tony Lang Tony Lang (Charles Anton Lang), 60, of Harbor Beach died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at his home after a long illness. Surviving are his wife, Sally; two sons, Scott Williams of East Tawas and Robert Lang of Baltimore, Md.; one daughter, Tina Metzger of Lynchburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Candice, Samantha and Timothy; and his sister, Kaye Lepien, of Saranac. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Beach. The Rev. Theresa Cutler will officiate, with burial at the Rock Falls Cemetery. George Matthews George William Matthews, 78, of Bad Axe and formerly of Bloomfield Township, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at his daughter's home in Bad Axe. He is survived by his wife, Elsie; one daughter, Sharon Rogers and her husband, "Doc," of Bad Axe; four grandchildren, Craig Matthews and his wife, Samantha, of Port Huron, Mark Matthews of Port Huron, Jim Rogers and his wife, Renee, of Olathe, Kan., and Katie Batzer and her husband, Dr. David Batzer, of Bad Axe; five great-grandchildren, Casey and Brandon Matthews, Benjamin and Jeremy Rogers, and Victoria Batzer; one sister, Hazel Jurges of Ubly; one daughter-in-law, Marcia Matthews of Port Huron.
