HURON DAILY TRIBUNE, Bad Axe, Huron County, Michigan Local Obituaries Week of August 13, 2000 Alger Jimkoski Alger Anthony Jimkoski, 65, of Dwight Township near Port Austin died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Huron Memorial Hospital, Bad Axe. He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Port Austin, son of the late Raymond and Martha (Andreski) Jimkoski. Alger and Miss Patricia Wrubel were married May 17, 1958, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. He was employed for 20 years at Dollar Electric, Imlay City, as a skilled trade machinist. His hobbies included playing bingo, cards, fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife, Patricia, of Port Austin; three daughters, Charlotte Henney and her husband, Walter, of Elkton, Eva Hagan and her husband, Lester, of Owendale, and Martha Dittel and her husband, Matthew, of Berkley; three sons, David Jimkoski and his wife, Teri, of Kinde, Dale Jimkoski of Port Austin, and Lawrence Jimkoski and his wife, Barbara, of Elkton; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Jimkoski and his wife, Linda, of Kinde, and John Jimkoski and his wife, Alberta, of Kinde; one brother-in-law, Frank Jaworski of Kinde; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Jimkoski was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Jimkoski; and one sister, Rita Jaworski. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, from St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. Fr. Michael Bell, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Edward's Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the MacAlpine Funeral Home Gage Chapel in Kinde. Raymond Murawski Mr. Raymond Frank Murawski, 96, of Bad Axe died Monday evening, Aug. 14, 2000, in the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe after a short illness. He was born on Nov. 11, 1903, in Port Austin to the late Andrew and Rose (Goretski) Murawski. He married Theresa E. Kanaski on Oct. 26, 1926, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Dwight. She preceded him in death on April 13, 1999. Raymond attended the Hellems Country School. He worked in the Grindstone City Quarry. He farmed in Grindstone until he retired in 1970. He was a carpenter for many years, working in Port Austin and Grindstone on area projects. He was a past Faithful Navigator for the Bishop Babcock Assembly and Color Corp member from 1960 to 1996. He was a former member of St. Michael Parish in Port Austin. He moved to Bad Axe in 1970 and became a member of Sacred Heart Parish where he was a member of the Usher Club for many years. Raymond is survived by two daughters, Agnes Duda and her husband, Arnold, of Ypsilanti, and Lillian Pajak and her husband, Roger, of South Riding, Va.; three sons, Bernard Murawski and his wife, Lorraine, of Imlay City, Gerald Murawski and his wife, Virginia, of Madison Heights, and Eugene Murawski and his wife, Rita, of Mason; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Josephine Patterson of Filion. He was preceded in death by one grandson; one great-grandson; one sister; and three brothers, Paul, Felix and Edward Murawski. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Sacred Heart Parish in Bad Axe. The Rev. John Ederer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m., and a rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m. followed by a chalice ceremony Thursday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Visitation will be 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. tonight, from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, and 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Laura Slater Laura E. Slater, 39, of Bad Axe died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Bay Medical Center in Bay City. She was born March 9, 1961, in Mount Clemens, daughter of the late Joseph and Beverly Romas. She married Dale Slater on Jan. 29, 1999, in Bad Axe. She enjoyed bowling and caring for her children. Surviving are her husband, Dale; four sons, Jason A. Romas, Joseph F. Babbitt Jr., Raymond J. Babbitt and Corey J. Babbitt, all of Bad Axe; one grandchild, Anastasia M. Gibbard; and one sister, Mary Martin and her husband, David, of Mount Clemens. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with Pastor Gorden Gossman of the Bad Axe Church of the Nazarene officiating. Cremation will follow at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. James Malloy James Loran Malloy, 95, of Pigeon passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at St. Gertrude Health Care Center in Shakopee, Minn. He was born in Chipley, Fla., on July 1, 1905, the son of the late James Franklin and Sara Francis (Hunt) Malloy. He was united in marriage to Pearl Mary Domine in Clio on June 24, 1934. Mr. Malloy retired from Fisher Body in Flint at age 65 after working as an electrician for 41 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First United Church in Pigeon. He is survived by his wife of more than 66 years, Pearl M.; two daughters, Janet A. Stetler and her husband, the Rev. Carl Stetler, of Veedersburg, Ind. and Joanne K. Krause and her husband, Kenneth, of Lakeville, Minn.; a son, James F. Malloy of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Paul Stetler and his wife, Patty, Shawn Stetler and Janae' Stetler; Katie Krause, Kent Krause and his wife, Heather, and Kenna Krause; Heidi Malloy and Kellie Malloy; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Alice, Nell, Hallie, Carrie, Willene and Pauline; five brothers, Frank, Gillis, Wilber, Dexter and Hugh. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon. The Rev. Karen L. Knight, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery in Mt. Morris, with the Rev. Carl Stetler officiating the committal service. Visitation is from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon or Bay Shore Evangelical Camp in Sebewaing. Norine Stoelting Norine K. Hind Stoelting, 85, of Rockford, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, in her home at Independence Village after a short illness. She was born on Aug. 5, 1915, in Bad Axe, the daughter of Harry and Ida Hind. She graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1933, and Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. She married Glenn L. Stoelting of Syracuse, Ind., in Marshall on Oct. 5, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1992. She lived most of her married life in Rockford after moving from Elkhart, Ind., in 1954. Survivors include daughters, Peggy Hensley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nancy Schafman and her husband, Dan, of Roscoe, Ill.; one granddaughter, Dana Weber and her husband, Kevin, of Roscoe, Ill.; two sisters, Ava Hind of Bad Axe and Lona Humphrey of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Lorne Hind and his wife, Denice, Dale Hind and his wife, Dolly, and Verne Hind and his wife, Eurotta, all of Bad Axe; several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be conducted with the Rev. William Kerr officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Sundberg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice Association at 4215 Newburg Road, Rockford, Ill., 61108. Marian Palewood Marian L. Palewood, 70, formerly of Tyre and daughter of George and Susie (Grice) Soule, passed away on Monday, July, 17, 2000. She was buried in Forester Cemetery on Friday, July 21, 2000. The Rev. Elizabeth Isaacs The Rev. Elizabeth (Beth) D.K. Isaacs, 80, of Winter Park, Fla., passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Winter Park after a long battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Manchester, England, daughter of the late John Robertson and Mary Jane (Kay) Chapman. She was united in marriage to James Isaacs in 1956. He preceded her in death in 1977. She had been involved in the church all her life and had served as a missionary in Mexico from 1945 to 1949. She then attended Wooster College in Ohio, Wayne State University, Detroit, and Northern Theological Seminary, Chicago, thus earning three master's degrees along the way. In 1964, she became the first woman to be fully ordained and serve as a pastor in the Methodist church in Michigan. Over the years, she had served 11 churches, eight in the Thumb area. She was pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing from July 1, 1976, until November 1979. She retired in 1989 from active ministry after serving six years as District Superintendent of the Port Huron District. Surviving are her children, the Rev. Mary E. Frost of Winter Park and John P. Isaacs of Caro; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing. Memorials may be made to Huron Memorial Hospice or Stephen's Ministry, Aloma United Methodist Church, Winter Park. Local arrangements are being handled by the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Clara Nitz Clara E. Nitz, 83, of Sebewaing died Saturday evening, Aug. 12, 2000, at Tendercare of Cass City following a four-year illness. She was born May 27, 1917, in Kilmanagh, daughter of the late Fredrick and Nathalia A. (Hessler) Nimtz. She was united in marriage to Herman Nitz on July 18, 1936, in Kilmanagh. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1973. Clara had been employed at Sebewaing Industries for 33 years before retiring in 1978. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. She loved to make afghans. Surviving are one son, Darwin Nitz and his wife, Barbara, of Sebewaing; two grandsons, Dean Nitz and his wife, Jessica, of Bradenton, Fla., and Daren Nitz and his wife, Angie, of Sebewaing; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Meghan, Ryan and Garret; a sister, Frieda Rievert and her husband, Elmer, of Sebewaing; a brother, Clarence Nimtz and his wife, Elizabeth, of Sebewaing; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. The Rev. Charles Kuhl will officiate with burial in Northlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Welcome Home for the Blind or the charity of the donor's choice.
