HURON DAILY TRIBUNE, Bad Axe, Michigan Local Obituaries Week of July 16, 2000 Robert Grigg Robert Charles Grigg, Sr., 82, of Bad Axe died Thursday morning, July 20, 2000, at the Aleda M. Lutz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Saginaw. Surviving are his wife, Gratta; two sons, Robert Grigg and his wife, Eve, and Larry Grigg, all of Bad Axe; two daughters, Linda Rapson and her husband, Frederick, of Dallas, Texas, and Judy Weiler and her husband, Joe, of Sandusky; 11 grandchildren, Terry, David, Rodney, Jason, Jonathan, Emily, Steve, Troy, Shari, Jacob and Eric; nine great-grandchildren, Alicia, Brent, Rylie, Kara, Brandon, Kristy, Jordan, Kyle and Trent; four brothers, Loren Grigg and his wife, Dora, Leonard Grigg and his wife, Betty, and Carl Grigg, all of Elkton, and Jeff Grigg and his wife, Addie, of Imlay City; and six sisters, Ella Mae Hollinshead, Ilene Young and her husband, Ken, and Lucille Schember and her husband, Ken, all of Elkton, Dorothy Bouverette of Bad Axe, Jean Kuhn and her husband, Joe, of Marion, Ohio, and June Nichol of Deford. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2000, at the H.W. Weitenberner Funeral Home, Bad Axe. The Rev. Richard Shuart will officiate with burial in the Colfax Township Cemetery. Dorothy Landenberg Dorothy Mae Landenberg, 80, of Bad Axe died Thursday morning, July 20, 2000, at Huron Memorial Hospital in Bad Axe. She is survived by one son, Donald Landenberg of Bad Axe; four daughters, Stella Laba and her husband, Julius, Betty Roberts, Doris McNeil and Carol Campbell and her husband, Richard, all of Bad Axe; 135 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clayton Mattice and his wife, Ileen, of Bad Axe. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2000, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe. The Rev. Kenneth Lueke, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Colfax Township Cemetery. Patrick Doyen Patrick F. Doyen, 68, of Cass City died Thursday, July 20, 2000, in Hills and Dales General Hospital, Cass City. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Cass City Missionary Church, Cass City, with Pastor Dave Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. David Janderwski David Janderwski, 38, beloved son, husband and father, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 9, 2000, due to a motorcycle accident in Port Huron Township. Funeral services took place on Thursday, July 13, 2000, in the Pollack-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Phyllis Ridge Phyllis J. Ridge, 63, of Cass City died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, in Tendercare, Cass City. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Dr. Philip Rice of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Raymond Gerrard Raymond Charles Gerrard, 79, of Pigeon passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. He is survived by his wife, Louise; a stepdaughter, Betty White and her husband, Dewey, of Osseo; a stepson, Richard Baines and his wife, Kate, of Murphyboro, Tenn.; 14 step-grandchildren; and several cousins and their families. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2000, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon, with Fr. George J. Serour officiating, assisted by Sr. Teresa Fox, O.P. Burial will be in the church cemetery. James Greenfield James Carefoot Greenfield, 65, of Andover, N.J., passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at his son's home in Pigeon following a long illness. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James C. and Susan Greenfield of Pigeon; and three grandchildren, Timothy, Amanda and Matthew. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2000, at the Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, Pa. Raymond Danielski Mr. Raymond Danielski, 84, of Paris Township died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Huron Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Selma, of Parisville; four sons, Melvin and his wife, Dee, of Clinton Township, Thomas and his wife, Janet, of Sterling Heights, David and his wife, Elaine, of Shelby Township, Raymond Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Madison Heights; two daughters, Jean Zulcosky and her husband, Robert, of Casselberry, Fla., Beverly Melnik of Ubly; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Beatrice Leppek of Ubly; many nieces and nephews. Esther Shubel Esther Shubel, 89, of Ubly died Wednesday morning, July 19, 2000, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Esther is survived by one daughter, Mary Carless of St. Clair Shores; two sons, Ira Shubel and his wife, Darlene, of Pinckney and Irwin "Chub" Shubel of Ubly; one brother, Herbert Haas of Port Austin; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2000, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe, with the Rev. Kenneth Lueke officiating. Burial will be in New River Cemetery. Clifford Volmering Mr. Clifford Volmering, 56, of Ruth died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at his daughter's residence. Earl, 86, a lifelong resident of Marlette, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Olive; two sons, Bill Earl and his wife, Madelyn, of Millington, and Gary Earl of Marlette; one daughter, Barbara Earl of Bad Axe; a sister, Viola Jones of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Robert and Dennis Muntz, Kerri Carrie, Michael Earl and Tonya Scott; five great-grandchildren, Tad and Sadie Muntz, Jessica, Lindsay and Joshua Carrie. Roland Gagner Roland Gagner, 85, of Chatham, Ontario, Canada, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at C-K Health Alliance Public General Campus, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada. Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2000, at Immaculate Conception Church, Pain Court. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Roger Shagena Mr. Roger J. Shagena, 58, of Cass City died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City after a short illness. He is survived by his mother, Ester Shagena; one sister, Karen Riipi of Gainesville, Fla.; two stepsisters, Cheryl Prill and her husband, Edward, of Bad Axe and Sheila Henderson and her husband, Jerome, of Shepard; one stepbrother, Lonnie Shagena of Anchorage, Alaska; and few nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2000, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg. The Rev. John Weis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Glen Corl Glen W. Corl, 72, of Deford died Monday, July 17, 2000, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with the Rev. Eric Kilmer of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette, officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Eugene Henderson Eugene Henderson, 88, of Kingston died Monday, July 17, 2000, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw after a short illness. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the Kingston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Margaret Passenger officiating. Interment is in the Kingston Cemetery. Etral Miller Etral Lee Miller, 86, of Midland and formerly of Elkton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, July 15, 2000. His last memories were of being surrounded by his family and friends in his quiet home in Midland. He left behind a loving and devoted wife, Ella Rose Miller, of Midland; eldest daughter, Judy Foreman and her husband, Ralph, of Bay Port; a son, Jerry Miller and his wife, Debbie, of Whispering Pines, N.C.; youngest son, Jim Miller and his wife, Ida, of Thunder Bay, Ontario; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Irene Kosenko of Caseville. Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at the Wesleyan Church in Elkton. The Rev. Louis Carsten, pastor of the Cleft of the Rock Family Church in Sanford, will officiate. Leon Kociba Leon "Leo" Kociba, 90, of Bad Axe, died Saturday evening, July 15, 2000, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Susie; four sons, Gordon Kociba and his wife, Diana, of Bad Axe, Harold Kociba and his wife, Janice, of Rochester Hills; Gerald Kociba and his wife, Rosemarie, of Bad Axe, and Eugene Kociba and his wife, Cynthia, of Mayville; his daughter, Ilene Learman and her husband, John, of Harbor Beach; a daughter-in-law, Jean Kociba of Bad Axe; 29 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five step-great- grandchildren. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe with burial in the church cemetery. Harriet Krasutsky Mrs. Harriet E. Krasutsky, 85, of Forestville died Friday, July 14, 2000, at Port Huron Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Forestville. The Rev. Richard G. Wilson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in East Delaware Township Cemetery. Mattie Deering Mattie M. Deering, 86, of Cass City died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City. Mattie is survived by her children: Valerie Downing of Gagetown, Duane J. "Mick" and his wife, Carol, Deering of Unionville, Roger and his wife, Jean, Deering of Cass City; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Interment was in Elkland Township Cemetery. Gertrude Messing Mrs. Gertrude Mary Susalla Messing, 89, of Ruth died Friday, July 14, 2000, at her residence after a short illness. Mary Miller Mary Jane Miller, 55, lifelong resident of Kinde, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw following a short illness. Surviving are her husband, Richard, of Kinde; four sons, Ronald Miller of St. Louis, Mich., Randy Miller, Kevin Miller and Duane Miller, all of Kinde; one sister, Martha Janderwski and her husband, Ray, of Bad Axe; one sister-in-law, Virginia Toner, of Kinde; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. today, July 16, 2000, from the Gage Chapel MacAlpine Funeral Home in Kinde. The Rev. Matthew J.
