HURON DAILY TRIBUNE, Bad Axe, Michigan Local Obituaries Week of January 23, 2000 Joseph Stacer Joseph Marcus Stacer, 89, a Yale area farmer, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Roggenbuck and her husband, Bob, of Harbor Beach, Audrey Craig and her husband, Gary, of Melvin, Cindy Johnston and her husband, Dennis, of Croswell and Jody Pikura and her husband, Tony, of Yale; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Linus Stacer of Harbor Beach, Karl Stacer and his wife, Darlene, of Croswell and Doug Stacer and his wife, Jennifer, of Clarkston; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Essenmacker. A funeral mass in appreciation for the life, family and friends of Joseph will be shared at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale. The Rev. Fr. Larry Dunn, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Helena. Linda Vance Linda L. Vance, 62, of Bad Axe and formerly of Lapeer and Glasgow, Ky., went to be with her Lord on Monday, Jan. 24, 2000. She is survived by children, Jeff Satterly of Washington, D.C., Vila Daniel and her husband, Ken, of Caledonia, Tammy Marsh and her husband, Shawn, of Glasgow, Ky., Donna Wright and her husband, Mike, of Bad Axe, Christopher Vance and Jamie Vance, both of Cave City, Ky.; grandchildren, Joshua Daniel, Beth Daniel, Jonathan Daniel, Elizabeth Burk, Tyler Burk, Sarah Burk and Nathan Vance; brothers and sisters, Helen Cammack, and Jodi and Carl Gibbons, all of Noblesville, Ind. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer with the Rev. Arnold Bracy officiating. Burial will take place in Stiles Cemetery in Lapeer. Elsie Werth Elsie M. Werth, 89, of Sebewaing died late Monday evening, Jan. 24, 2000, at Bay Medical Center in Bay City following a 1 1/2 year illness. Surviving are her husband, Carl Werth of Sebewaing; one son, James Werth and his wife, Colleen, of Traverse City; three granddaughters, Amber Rae, Markie Paige and Lainie Marie Werth; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. The Rev. David H. Petersen will officiate with burial in the Silverlawn Cemetery. John Earnshaw, D.O. John H. Earnshaw, D.O., 88, resident of St. Louis and former resident of Port Hope, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at the Schepps Health Care Center in St. Louis. He is survived by his son, John H. Earnshaw II; and two grandsons, Adam of Floral City, Fla., and Jarred of San Diego, Calif. Royden Brown Royden G. Brown, 78, of Harbor Beach passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Royden is survived by his former wife and good friend, Pat Brown of Harbor Beach; three sons, John Brown of California, James Brown of Harbor Beach and David Brown and his wife, Pamela, of Harbor Beach; two grandchildren, Jaimi and Brian; two great-grandchildren, Vincent and Chelsie; a sister, Betty Lamb of Harbor Beach; and a brother, Allen Brown of Westland. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach, with the Rev. Edward Konieczka, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Mount Kelly Cemetery in Dearborn. Bronislau "Curly" Calka Bronislau A. "Curly" Calka, 78, of Cass City died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in his home. Curly is survived by his wife, Pauline; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Linda Calka, Carla Cavanaugh and her husband, Jim, Mona Compton and her husband, Gary, Cindy Duba and her husband, George, and Lori Brock and her husband, Steve; five grandchildren, Alexandra and Andrew Duba, Tiani Compton, Cameron Cavanaugh and Andrew Brock; a brother, Bernard Calka and his wife, Beatrice, of Sterling Heights; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with the Rev. Paul Bala of St. Pancratius Catholic Church officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Elkland Township Cemetery. David "D.J."Connors David John "D.J." Connors, 49, of El Paso, Texas and formerly of Bad Axe, died unexpectedly at his home. D.J. is survived by his parents, Mark and Helen Connors of Bad Axe; one sister, Wendy Gettel and her husband, Lee, of Pigeon; four brothers, Greg Connors and his wife, Beth, of Rio Ranch, N.M., Scott Connors of Albuquerque, N.M., Jeff Connors of Santa Fe, N.M., and Kelly Connors and his wife, Sharon, of Fenton; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Diana Twelves of El Paso, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. In keeping with his wishes, the cremains will be buried in Colfax Township Cemetery. Edward Kanaby Mr. Edward F. Kanaby, 34, of Ubly died Sunday evening, Jan. 23, 2000, at Huron Memorial Hospital in Bad Axe. He is survived by his parents, Captain Francis and Marilyn Kanaby of Ubly; a special friend, Lisa Franer of New Galilee, Pa.; two brothers, Michael Kanaby of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Richard Kanaby of Lansing; four sisters, Leona Alley and her husband, Dwayne, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Beverly Lombardo and her husband, Diego, of Vero Beach, Fla., Debbie Kanaby of Ubly and Sharon Kanaby and her fiancee, Leigh Langenburg, of Grand Blanc; four nieces, Michelle and Stephanie Lombardo and Mary and Elisa Alley; and maternal grandmother, Marie Wheeler of Ubly. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Virgil Bouvrette Virgil D. Bouvrette, 79, of Filion died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Huron Memorial Hospital, Bad Axe. He is survived by his wife, Hannah, of Filion; one daughter, Sandra Kipp and her husband, Larry, of Novi; one son, David Bouvrette of Filion; three grandchildren, Tara, Ashley and Chelsea Kipp, all of Novi; one sister, Lena Baumert of Seal Beach, Calif.; four sisters-in-law, Edna Schulz of Pigeon, Florence Iddings of Filion, Martha Lutat of Deckerville and Becky Bouvrette of Kinde; two brothers-in-law, Arnold Lutat of Filion and Frank Sharrah of Kinde; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Kinde with the Rev. Fr. John Killop officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Mable Kindler Mable Kindler, 87, of Unionville died Sunday morning, Jan. 23, 2000, at Tendercare of Cass City following a lengthy illness. Surviving are one son, Arthur Kindler and his wife, Judy, of Foley, Ala.; one daughter, Frances Bang and her husband, Arthur Soule, of Flint; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Marie Kindler of Sebewaing; two sisters, Hazel Dutcher and Maxine Piantkowski, both of Alpena; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. The Rev. David H. Petersen will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Bessie Furness Bessie Merle Furness, 90, lifelong Elkton resident died Saturday evening, Jan. 22, 2000, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe. Surviving is her daughter, Nenette Ricker and her husband, William, of Marlette; two granddaughters, Carrie Ledingham and her husband, Jason, of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Stacie Ricker of Bay City; a great-granddaughter, Paige; three brothers, Floyd Farver and his wife, Dorothy, Henry Farver and his wife, Marguerite, all of Elkton and Cliff Farver and his wife, Mary, of Oak Beach; and three sisters, Flossie Maynard of Pinnebog, Ulla Snider and her husband, Orville, of Caseville and Luella Conners of Filion. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Pete Crawford, pastor, will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. Pauline Strieter Pauline Strieter, 101, of Sebewaing, formerly of Unionville, passed away Friday Jan. 21, 2000 at Bay Medical Care Facility in Essexville following a four-year illness. Surviving are three daughters, Frances Balzer and her husband, Melvin, of Unionville, Caroline Striler and her husband, Volen, of Swartz Creek, Pauline Scharich of Bay City; one son, Paul Strieter, and his wife, Diane, of Sebewaing; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 24, 2000 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Rev. David H. Petersen, vacancy pastor, will officiate with burial in the Moravian Cemetery in Unionville. Virginia Zagorski Virginia Zagorski, 73, of Burton died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at her residence. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward; her three children, Susan Orban and her husband, Richard, of West Bloomfield, Mary Graver and her husband, Philip, of Flushing, and Patrick Zagorski of Burton; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Leonard Maikrzek and his wife, Eileen, of Ubly; a brother-in-law, Cass Abraham of Ubly; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint. The Rev. Father Andrew A. Czajkowski as celebrant. Walter Zajac Walter J. Zajac, 86, of Kingston died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City after a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 23, 2000, in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston, with Sr. Gerry Maloney of St. Michael Catholic Church officiating. Pallbearers for Mr. Zajac are his grandchildren. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston. 1
