HURON DAILY TRIBUNE, Bad Axe, Huron County, Michigan Local Obituaries for the week of June 10, 2001 Sunday, June 10, 2001 Carly Reinke Carly Leeann Reinke, 6, of Port Hope, passed away Friday, June 8, 2001 at Harbor Beach Community Hospital following injuries from an auto/bicycle accident near Port Hope. Born in Harbor Beach on Oct. 3, 1994, she is the daughter of Melody Reinke and Jamie Brown. Carly was a first-grade student at St. John Lutheran School in Port Hope, and was active in the Port Hope Girl Scouts. She is survived by her parents: Melody Reinke and Dan Burton of Port Hope, and Jamie Brown and Lorri Schwietzer of Harbor Beach; grandparents Dave and Diane Reinke of Port Hope, Pam Brown of Port Hope, and Greg and Susie Brown of Auburn; great-grandparents Mary McAuley and her friend, Joe Denman, of Port Hope; Dorothy Reinke of Elkton; and Arlene Brown of Port Hope. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Hope, with Rev. Gregory Eilers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. A scripture service will be today at 8 p.m. in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, where visitation will be today from 1-9 p.m., and at the church on Monday from noon until the time of services. Monday, June 11, 2001 Monte Lasker Monte Joseph Lasker, 95, of Detroit died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in his daughter's home. He was born Dec. 25, 1905, in South Bend, Ind. to Francis and Lydia (Dambacher) Lasker. He married Gertrude G. Wotzke Feb. 14, 1928, in St. Anne's Church in Detroit. She died Aug. 7, 1996. Mr. Lasker worked as a Budget Analyst for Chrysler Corporation, retiring after 39 years. He was a former Little League coach and Shelby Township volunteer fireman. Monte was an avid bowler and pleasure golfer. He was a Lions Club member and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Detroit. Monte is survived by his daughters, Rose Marie Fodera and her husband, Johnny, of Clinton Township, Juanita Petrak and her husband, Donn, of Ocala, Fla., Marilynn Harlick and her husband, Cliff, of Warren, Carole Lasker of Detroit, Patt VanDyke of Sand Point; grandchildren, Sammy, Rose Ann, Johnny, Mary, Billy, Theresa, Michael, Nancy, Janet, David, Sue, Bert, Bruce, and Jamila; 19 great-grandchildren; cousin, Mildred Bishop and her husband, Walt, of South Bend, Ind.; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Emil J. and Frank Lasker; sister, Marie Rudolph. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Detroit with the Rev. Norman P. Thomas officiating. Interment is in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East. Pallbearers for Mr. Lasker will be Sammy Fodera, Johnny Fodera, Billy Fodera, Michael Fodera, Bert VanDyke, and Bruce VanDyke. Ervin Maurer, 82, of Paris Township, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Tendercare of Cass City after a short illness. He was born on Feb. 7, 1919, in Paris Township, son of the late Leo F. and Helen (Murray) Maurer. He married Virginia Kubacki on Sept. 8, 1941 at St. John Church of Ubly. He was a graduate of Ubly High School. He worked on the family farm before going into service in the Army Air Corps. He served during World War II overseas in Europe. He was a prominent farmer in Paris and Sigel Township. He enjoyed baseball and played in a Huron County league as a young man, was a runner-up in the certified state championship in horseshoes, an avid bowler for 35 years and a member of the Tuesday night King and Queens league in Ubly. He was a member of the Wednesday men's League of Golf at Rolling Hills Golf Course of Cass City, a member and stockholder of the Ubly Heights Golf and Country Club, a lifelong member of Most Holy Trinity Parish of Smith Corners, a member of the Holy Name Society and served as an usher, lector and Eucharistic Minister at the parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bad Axe Council No. 1546 and was one of the founding members of Farmer's Hall and served for many years on the Paris Township Zoning Commission. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Paris Township; three sons, Dennis and his wife, Kathy, of White Lake, Alan and his wife, Sharon, of Bad Axe, Eric and his wife, Evelyn, of Royal Oak; six grandchildren, Bill Maurer and his wife, Paula, of Fowlerville, Becky Maurer of Shelby Township, Keith Maurer and his wife, Traci, of Peck, Chad Maurer of Bad Axe, Lindsay Maurer of Bad Axe, Jason Maurer of Royal Oak; one brother, Linus "Mike" Maurer and his wife, Lila, of Ubly; four sisters, Blanche Rumptz and her husband, Archie, of Ubly; Norine Williamson and her husband, Edward, of Sterling Heights, Dorothy Zurek and her husband, Lawrence, of Mount Clemens, Leta Duda and her husband, George, of Mount Clemens; special cousin Richard Maurer and his wife, Jane, of Ruth. Mass of Resurrection will be on Wednesday, June 13, at Most Holy Trinity Church of Smith Corners. Rev. John Weis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the Ubly Veterans Groups. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly, 1 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday. There will be a Rosary by the Bad Axe Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and a Parish Wake Service at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials requested to Sister Scyprans IHM Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society. Tuesday, June 12, 2001 Arletta Arndt Arletta L. Arndt, 88, of Harbor Beach died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the Harbor Beach Community Hospital, Long-Term Care Unit. She was born July 25, 1912, to the late Charles and Emma Arndt in Sherman Township. Arletta attended the East Sherman Rural Country School, farmed the Berrie Farm, and was of the Lutheran faith. She was employed in Port Huron by the West Side Cleaners for five years and Pine Grove Cleaners for fifteen years, retiring at age 62. She enjoyed her rose, flower, and vegetable gardens and liked to sew. Surviving is one brother, Edward Arndt and his wife, Gertrude, of Harbor Beach; and several nieces and nephews. Arletta was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Carl Arndt. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2001, at Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach. The Rev. Mark Girardin, pastor, will officiate. Cremation took place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Arrangements were handled by the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Memorials may be offered to the church. Michael Gamer Michael Gordon Gamer, 46, of Warren died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at his home. Michael was born June 7, 1955, in Detroit, a son of Gordon and Lillian (Lawrence) Gamer. Michael was an employee of A.G.S. Metal Systems in Sterling Heights for 24 years. He enjoyed working on cars, bowling, building and driving demolition derby cars, riding his Harley motorcycle and deer hunting. Surviving are his daughters, Jennifer Monzo and her husband, Ed, and Kristy Gamer; sons, Stephen and Shaun Gamer, all of Snover; mother, Lillian Murray of South Branch; great-grandmother, Margaret Lawrence of Hale; brother, Kenneth Gamer of East Pointe; sisters, Sharron Hyatt and her husband, Jason, of Kenosha, Wis. and Shirley Ednie and her husband, Bill, of Clinton Township; grandchildren, Mickayla and Kaleigh Gamer, Anthony Grifka Gamer, Jaylynn and Jordan Monzo and Krysta Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his father, Gordon in 1997. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday June 14, 2001, at Murphy and Hauss Funeral Directors, 47477 Romeo Plank Road in Macomb Township. The Rev. Michael J. Lutz, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Macomb, will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday in Valley Cemetery in Ubly. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial tributes may be made for Family Wishes. Wayne House Wayne Allen House, 64, of Pigeon, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2001, at home. He was born in Winsor Township on Aug. 27, 1936, son of the late Virgil and Helen (Omish) House, and graduated from the Quarry School. On Oct. 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Anna M. Duever at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. Mr. House worked for George Mohr as a mason beginning in 1956, until his retirement in the early 1990's. He was a member of the Caseville Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed building, woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He was survived by his wife, Anna; three children, John House and his wife, Jeni, of Bay Port, Carl House and his wife, Deborah, of Redford Township, and Beth Aldridge and her husband, Ron, of Ferndale; three grandchildren, Matthew House, Caitie House, and Emily House; three brothers, Rodda House and his wife, Joyce, Gerald House and his wife, Betty, all of Sebewaing, and Marvin House of Beaverton; two sisters, Joyce Kolacz and her husband, Bill, of Deford and Barbara Lambdin and her husband, Don, of Gladwin; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Otto Duever and his wife, Vickie. He was preceded in death by a sister, Truddy Budd, and a sister-in-law, Louise Duever. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at the Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon, with the Rev. Joseph Wold officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, A Golden Rule Funeral Home in Pigeon and at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. Wednesday, June 13, 2001 Peter Dropieski Peter Dropieski, 91, of Sebewaing died early Tuesday morning, June 12, 2001, from injuries received in a pedestrain-truck accident near Caro. He was born on Oct. 25, 1909, in Ubly to the late Louis and Apolina (Woychowski) Dropieski. Peter was employed at the Nestle Company in Ubly and later for Chrysler Corporation in Detroit for many years before retiring in 1972. He then moved from Detroit to Sebewaing. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing, the Unionville-Sebewaing Senior Citizens organization, was an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting with relatives. He is survived by two sisters, Irene Brimberry, of Pigeon, Grace Fiori and her husband, Joseph, of Harbor Beach; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Michael, John, Harry, Joseph, infant William and Marshall Dropieski; four sisters, Katie Cary, Lucy Czewski, Agnes Skipinski and Mary Franzel. The Mass Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2001, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Fr. George Seorur will officiate with burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Ubly. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. There will be scripture service conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home . Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Thursday, June 14, 2001 – None Friday, June 15, 2001 Roland Folk Roland W. "Sam" Folk, 72, of Sebewaing died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in his home. He was born on May 28, 1929, in Bloomsburg, Pa. to Leroy and Josephine (Horax) Folk. He married Juanita McCullough on Sept. 30, 1950, in Seattle, Wash. Sam was wounded while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors Fisher Body until his retirement in 1978. He was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pontiac. Sam was a member of the Clarkston American Legion. He was Sebewaing Village Trustee, mayor pro tem, chairman of the Police Committee, and president of the Sebewaing Bay Subdivision Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Sam loved flowers, especially gladiolus. He enjoyed people. He was survived by his wife, Juanita; children, Ruth Folk, of Los Angeles, Calif., Gordon Folk and his wife, Matilde, of Bad Axe, Rebecca Folk of Las Cruces, N.M., Cathy Piper and her husband, Chris, of Clarkston; granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah; brothers, Edward Folk and his wife, Peggy, of Bloomsburg, Pa., Robert Folk and his wife, Shirley, of Espy, Pa., Richard Folk of Monoca, Pa.; sisters, Evelyn Lamon, of Berwick, Pa., Martha Knowski and her husband, John, of Berwick, Pa., Helen Force of Pa.; sisters-in-law, Mary Folk and Donna Folk; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene and Donald Folk. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing with the Rev. William Mayhew of New Salem Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will take place June 18 in Ottawa Park Cemetery in Independence Township. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Annabelle Gainor Annabelle Gainor, 91, of Harbor Beach passed away Thursday, June 14, 2001, in the Harbor Beach Community Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2001, in the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach with the Rev. Theresa Cutler officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Falls Cemetery in Harbor Beach. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday and from noon until the service time on Monday at the funeral home. 1
