HURON DAILY TRIBUNE, Bad Axe, Huron County, Michigan Local Obituaries Week of January 14, 2001 Sunday, January 14, 2001 Linda Edwards Linda Lou Mayworm Edwards, 61, of Verona passed away Friday Jan. 12, 2001 at Covenant-Harrison Hospital in Saginaw. She was born July 7, 1939, in Bad Axe, to the late Vincent M. and Laura I. (Baslock) DesJardin. Linda graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1957. Miss Linda DesJardin and Joseph Mayworm were married July 12, 1957. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1986. Linda and Frank Edwards were married Aug. 15, 1998, in Bad Axe. Linda was employed at Thumb Plastics for many years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Linda was a member of the Area Antique Auto Club. She enjoyed her grandchildren, visiting with family and friends, old cars and reading. Surviving are her husband, Frank; two sons, Robert Mayworm and his wife, Janel, of Bad Axe, Mark and his wife, Carrie, of Elkton; three sisters, Fay Gilbert of Bad Axe, Kay Rogers of Bad Axe, Joyce Thompson of Swartz Creek; two grandchildren, Joseph and Vincent Mayworm at home in Bad Axe; four stepchildren, Don Edwards and his wife, Jacque', of Bad Axe, Ben Edwards and his wife, Sheila, of Bad Axe, Patty Lubeski and her husband, Al, of Harbor Beach; Julie Peruski and her husband, Todd, of Shelby Township; nine step grandchildren, Amanda, Hilary, Benson, Haley and Mathew Edwards; Renee' and Rachel Lubeski; Alex and Sam Peruski. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2001 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, with Fr. John Kilop officiating. Cremation will follow at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Interment will be at a later date at Scared Heart Cemetery, Bad Axe. A Scripture service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today. Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Edward Johnson Edward Russell Johnson, 69, of Montrose, passed away Saturday Jan. 13, 2001 at Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe. He was born Feb. 28, 1931 in Huron County, son of the late Albert and Mina (Bushey) Johnson. Edward was a graduate of Elkton High School and graduated from Central Michigan University. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post-Port Austin, Frank Horetski, No. 499. He was Montrose City Mayor for two terms and served on the city council for more than 20 years. He was chairman of the Montrose Blueberry Festival. Edward was a member of the Montrose Historical Society. Edward worked with the National Honor Society at the Hill McLoy High School in Montrose. He taught in Germany for two years and loved to travel to Alaska, Russia, China and the Holy Land. He also like to read. He was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church of Pinnebog. He is survived by one sister, Doris Clancy and her husband, Phil, of Port Austin and Florida; two sisters-in-law, Helen Witherspoon and her husband, Louis, of Port Austin; and Delores Johnson of Kinde; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and William Johnson. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 16, 2001 at the St. Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog. Visitation will be at the MacAlpine Funeral Home-Gage Chapel of Kinde from 4 to 9 p.m. today from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be offered to the Hill McLoy High School National Honor Society or St. Felix Catholic Church-Pinnebog. Lucille Snyder Lucille I. Robinson Snyder, 86, of Pigeon, passed away Friday Jan. 12, 2001 at Huron Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe. She was born in McKinley Township on July 28, 1914, daughter of the late James and Margaret (Demo) Smith. On Oct. 10, 1936, she was united in marriage to Albert Irving Sinclair Robinson in Pigeon. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1986. She was married to Aurelius "Al" Snyder in Oregon City, Ore. on Sept. 22, 1986. He passed away Dec. 19, 1996. Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker throughout her lifetime. In 1987 she retired from Scheurer Hospital after many years as switchboard operator. She was a member of the Pigeon Historical Society, the Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary, the Order of Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon. Her survivors include two daughters, Margaret Dean and her husband, Robert, of Pigeon and Dorothy Casey and her husband, James, of Cass City; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and three foster children, Robert Killing, Sally Craig and Mary Fealko. She was preceded in death by her son, Al D. Robinson, on April 26, 1999; three brothers and one sister. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church, Pigeon, with Rev. Karen L. Knight, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Meyersieck- Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon; Also from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the First United Methodist Church, Pigeon. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Charles Wiethoff Charles J. Wiethoff, 87, of Cass City and formerly of Harbor Beach, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw following a short illness. Born in Detroit on June 13, 1913, he is the son of the late Joseph and Estelle (Lieberman) Wiethoff. He and Ethel Lilley were married June 20, 1936 in Detroit. He was a retired employee of the Lanero Engineering Co. in Troy. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 2 in Detroit. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ethel Wiethoff, of Cass City and son Charles Wiethoff and his wife, Lynne, of Iron Mountain; one daughter, Ellen Eanes and her husband, Lewis, of New Baltimore; four grandchildren, one great granddaughter; sister Rosemary Sieger of Farmington Hills. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. A Memorial Service will take place in the spring at First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Beach with interment to be in the Rock Falls Cemetery. The Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach is handling arrangements. Monday, January 15, 2001 David Ashmore David Charles Ashmore, 85, of Cass City died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at the Laurels of Mount Pleasant Nursing Home. He was born on Oct. 8, 1915, in Grant Township to William and Helen (Harrington) Ashmore. He married Wilma L. Hartsell on Jan. 25, 1942, in Elkton. Charlie worked for Gambles in Cass City for 20 years and then retired from General Cable after 22 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved working in his gardens. Charlie and his wife attended Cass City United Methodist Church. Mr. Ashmore is survived by his wife, Wilma; children, the Rev. David Ashmore and his wife, Andrea, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Judy Elliott and her husband, Tommy, of Ypsilanti, Roger Ashmore and his wife, Mary, of Bay City, Henry Ashmore of Bay City, Dale Ashmore and his wife, Clara, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sharon Grant and her husband, David, of Saginaw, Karen Meyer of Cass City; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Ashmore and his wife, Cathleen, of Mayfield, Justus Ashmore and his wife, Shirley, of Tawas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Lynn Ashmore; brothers, Bill, Sam, Clarence and Ted Ashmore; sister, Lula Kozan. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with Dr. Philip Rice of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. He will be buried in Grant Township Cemetery in Gagetown next to his daughter. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Virginia Kolwicz Virginia Kolwicz, 79, of Harbor Beach passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe following a long illness. She was born on Oct. 23, 1921, in Detroit. Virginia was a member of the Rapson Home in Harbor Beach for several years. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Schramski of Pontiac. She was preceded in death by her husband. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach with the Rev. Theresa Cutler of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Cremation will follow at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City with interment in the Forest Bay Cemetery. Edward Johnson Edward Russell Johnson, 69, of Montrose died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe. Thursday, January 18, 2001 Tyler Wilson Our hearts are broken, our arms are empty. Our son, Tyler Michael Wilson, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Bay Medical Center in Bay City. He was born on Sept. 8, 2000, in Saginaw. As Tyler's parents, Jennifer Lynn Wilson of Unionville, and Ron L. Begeman of Caro, we invite family and friends to share our sorrow from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Kathy Pudelko Kathy Jo Pudelko, 42, of Sterling Heights and formerly of Cass City, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Clinton Township following a long struggle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at St. Pancratius Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Bala officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. There will be a scripture service at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Mercy Cancer Care Center, Clinton Township. Friday, January 19, 2001 Lucille Paolucci Lucille A. Smith Paolucci, 82 of Bad Axe died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Huron Memorial Hospital in Bad Axe. She was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Moore Township in Sandusky. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Edna Brookins Minard. Miss Lucille Minard and Mr. Carl Harmond Smith were united in marriage Jan. 5, 1938, in Snover. Mr. Smith preceded his wife in death on Nov. 5, 1972. Lucille later married Arnold L. Paolucci on April 9, 1977, in Chicago. Lucille attended Thomas Rural County School, Moore Township, near Sandusky and Carsonville. She was employed by the Hamill Manufacturing Co. in Bad Axe, and the Huron Daily Tribune, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed wood crafts, crocheting and gardening. Surviving is her husband, Arnold Paolucci, of Bad Axe; two sons, Melvin Smith and his wife, Sherri, of Bad Axe, and Ronald Smith of Bad Axe; seven daughters: Shirley Miller and her husband, Donald, of Vassar, Doris Jones and her husband, Ronald, of Bay City; Donna Loeding and her husband, Wayne, of Bartow, Fla., Ilene Bellant and her husband, Robert, of Bay City; Barbara Shoemaker of Bad Axe, Edna Alexander and her husband, Jack, of Bay City, and Bonnie Goretski and her husband, Mike, of Bad Axe; one stepson, William Paolucci, of Indiana; one stepdaughter, Leslie Ann Paolucci, of Indiana; one daughter-in- law, Kathy Easley and her husband, Jim, of Pinconning; one stepbrother, Victor Beck, of North Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Leona Minard of Florida, Helen Bentley and her husband, Harold, of Saginaw, and Luella Smith of Snover; 33 grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her first husband, Carl Smith; one son, Edward Smith; one daughter, Carol Smith; one son-in-law, Albert Shoemaker; and two grandchildren, Brian Miller and William Loeding; one sister, Leah Roberts; three brothers, Hiram Minard, Robert Minard, and Samuel Minard. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. The Rev. Jerry Sutton will officiate. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. John Ross Mr. John (Jack) Vatter Ross, 90, of Ubly died at his home Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, under hospice care. He was born on Sept. 7, 1910, in Sanilac County's Austin Township, son of the late Daniel and Annie (Vatter) Ross. His family moved to Port Huron where John attended elementary and high school. He married Ethel Sanders on Oct. 3, 1936, at the Ubly United Methodist Church. They have resided in Ubly all of their married life. Mr. Ross worked in various Ubly garages all of his lifetime as a service manager , body man and mechanic. He, with his wife, was an independent agent for the Detroit News for seven years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. For many years, he was an umpire and coach for Ubly Little League. He was a former member of the Ubly Fox Hunters Club. He and his wife spent the last 18 winters in Harlingen, Texas. He was a driver for Gelco Courier Service for many years. He is survived by his wife, Ethel, of Ubly; one daughter, Sandra Greene and her husband, Roger, of Ubly; one son, Robert "Dan" Ross and his wife, Cheryl, of Harrison; one grandson, Brian Greene and his wife, Lana, of Grand Rapids; two granddaughters, Rachelle Neddo and her husband, Thomas, of Taylor and Renee Ross of Taylor; two great-grandsons, Zachary and Trenton Neddo. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Fred and Robert; four sisters, Marian, Ruth, Alice and Lizette. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. The Rev. Robert A. Srock and Pastor Ellen Burns will officiate. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Frieburg in the spring. Visitation is from 12:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. 1
