Dorman, 84, of Sandusky died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Port Huron. She married Merle G. Dorman on Jan. 25, 1947, in Port Huron. He passed away on May 20, 1981. Mrs. Dorman was a member of Faith Free Methodist Church in Snover. She is survived by one son, Wayne Dorman of Bad Axe; one granddaughter, Rena Smith and her husband, Carl, of Detroit; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Dorman. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Hacker Funeral Parlors in Sandusky. Pastor Roger Cleeton of Snover will officiate. Burial will be in the Moore Township Cemetery in Snover. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Faith Free Methodist Church. Frank LaFave Frank James LaFave, 84, of Bad Axe died Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2001, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. Frank was born April 10, 1917, in Gagetown to the late Herbert and Alice (Rocheleau) LaFave. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Wendland on July 5, 1941. Frank graduated from Gagetown High School. He enjoyed politics and was a big sports fan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Larry LaFave and his wife, Edie, of Idaho; a daughter, Joan Arn and her husband, Edward, of Washington, Mich.; two brothers, Paul LaFave and his wife, Donna, of Owendale, and Ted LaFave of Caro; three sisters, Ruth Russell of California, Betty Bryant of Detroit, and Katherine Rick and her husband, George, of Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Agatha LaFave of Owendale and Joy LaFave of Caro; three grandsons, James Arn of Washington, Mark Arn and his wife, Lynette, of Washington, and Jason LaFave and his wife, Margie, of Seattle, Wash.; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Arn, Kaitlyn Arn, Katie Ann LaFave and Sydnie LaFave. Frank was preceded in death by three sisters, Melva Bidigare, Thelma LaFave and Virginia Surbough; four brothers, Murl LaFave, Robert LaFave, Patrick LaFave and Vern LaFave; and an infant brother. Memorials may be given to the Family Discretionary Fund. Tuesday, November 20, 2001 Leonard Lemanski Leonard J. Lemanski, 64, of Detroit and formerly of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, in Arbor Hospice of Ann Arbor. He was born on Oct. 1, 1937, in Harbor Beach to the late Barney and Agnes (Zurek) Lemanski. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for more than eight years. He was the owner and operator of LJ & L Enterprises in Detroit, and he enjoyed visiting with family and friends and going to his cottage on weekends. Leonard is survived by eight children, Terri Fierke and her husband, Andy, of Deckerville, Michael Lemanski and his wife, Clara, of Harbor Beach, Kathy Lemanski of Fraser, Darla Luttenberger of Clinton Township, Lisa Pleiness and her husband, Ed, of Allenton, Leanett Lemanski of Roseville, Latisha Lemanski of St. Clair Shores, and Leonard Lemanski Jr., of Centerline; 16 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; four sisters, Rose Peruski and her husband, Stanley, of Harbor Beach, Edna Jaskowski of Minden City, Doris Lemanski of Harbor Beach, and Elsie Palach and her husband, Ira, of Harbor Beach; and a brother, Norman Lemanski and his wife, Theresa, of Bad Axe. Leonard was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall Lemanski; and two sisters, Marie Pulcer and Loretta Miller. William Ramage William Lavern Ramage, 76, a resident of Garden Grove, Calif., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Calif. He was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Harbor Beach, son of the late Fred and Eva (Neal) Ramage. He and Miss Rita Bloom of Detroit were married in Howe, Ind., on June 1, 1953. The couple had been married 48 years. Mr. Ramage attended Harbor Beach Public Schools. He was a World War II crew member on the B-29 Superfortress. He mustered out after the Korean conflict on Dec. 31, 1951. All his life he spent time around aircraft and was interested in the aerospace program. For 36 years he worked with companies such as North American-McDonnell Douglas and Northrop Corp. At North American, he worked on the Apollo project, at McDonnell- Douglas he worked on the Sky Lab, and at Northrop, he worked on the 747 and F-18. While he was at McDonell-Douglas, he received countless Merit Awards for his inventions. Away from work he worked for the Cub Scouts. He formed the Boy Scout Troop No. 90 and was scoutmaster for two years. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Michigan and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. In his later years, he loved playing computer games. He always said they were a challenge. He was a big fan of bingo, always looking for that lucky number. He loved to travel, suitcase always packed, ready to go. Now he can travel all over the world. He will be missed both by his family and all his friends. He is survived by his wife, Rita; one son, William Ramage Jr.; two daughters, Cynthia Ramage and Donna Whitney; three grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eber Ramage; and two sisters, Ruth Marchinkewicz and Eleanor Morley. Pearl Salter Pearl G. Salter, 81, of Sebewaing died Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2001, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon following a brief illness. She was born July 9, 1920, in Kilmanagh, daughter of the late Aaron and Helen (Rueger) Holland. She was united in marriage to Gerald Wm. Salter who preceded her in death. Pearl had been employed as an operator for Michigan Bell Telephone in Detroit for many years before moving to Sebewaing in 1959. She was an avid antique collector. Surviving are two sons, U.S. Air Force Major Larry Salter and his wife, Naomi, serving in Okinawa, Japan, and David Salter of Sebewaing; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Kristi and Micah Salter; two sisters, Darlene Haist and her husband, Gerald, of Sebewaing, and Doris VanSkiver and her husband, Frederick, of Macomb; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Nelson Holland; and one sister, Ruth Hensel. Cremation took place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Inurnment will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing. Wednesday, November 21, 2001 Lois Beck Lois Ann Beck, 58, of Palms died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in her home. She was born May 3, 1943, in St. Johns, the daughter of Dow and Verena (Keilen) Huggett. She married George Beck on Dec. 30, 1962, in St. Johns. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Douglas Beck and his wife, Sandi, of Canby, Ore., and David Beck of Palms; two daughters, Sandy Grifka and her husband, Lee, of Deckerville, and Sheila Van Norman and her husband, Jeremy, of Carsonville; six grandchildren; two brothers, James Huggett of Marshall, Wisc., and Wallace Huggett of Marlette; one sister, Mary Barnes of Owosso; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Palms, with Fr. Steve Gavit officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Valley. A vigil service will take place at 8 p.m. Friday at the Apsey Funeral Home in Deckerville. Elizabeth Pease Elizabeth "Betty" Pease, 79, of Port Hope passed away Monday evening, Nov. 19, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw. Born on March 18, 1922, in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Agnes (Welsch) Kinsman. Betty and Warren Pease were united in marriage on Feb. 21, 1948, in Port Hope. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach. Betty is survived by her husband, Warren Pease of Port Hope; a son, Michael Pease of Warren; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach with the Rev. Mark Girardin, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Rock Falls Cemetery. A scripture service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. this evening, and 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church. Mabel Finley Mabel F. Finley, 82, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at the Fenton Extended Care Facility. She was born Oct. 29, 1919, in Bad Axe, the daughter of Mr. John Finley and Mrs. Greata Meredith. She graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1939. She then moved to Detroit and was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank downtown for more than 40 years and loved going to Florida and going shopping. She is survived by her sister, Mary Howard, of Mount Pleasant; six nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Kozan of Genesee, John Howard of Texas, Marvin Howard of Remus, Mike Howard of Maryland, Ed Howard of Mount Pleasant, and Nancy Bell of Mount Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred; her lifelong companion, Jack Linch; a niece, Mary Jane; and a nephew, Richard. Henne, 89, of Bay Port died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center Cooper in Saginaw following a five-year illness. He was born Aug. 22, 1912, in rural Bay Port, son of the late William Benjamin and Erma Christina (Beaver) Henne. He was united in marriage to Ruth Regina Fahrner on Aug. 26, 1933, in Kilmanagh. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1996. Roland was a 1934 graduate from Michigan State College in Lansing with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. For a period of time he was employed by General Motors and later Dow Chemical Co. During World War II, he was employed by the U.S. Army as a civilian engineer technician serving in Egypt and North Africa and had been based at the Suez Canal. He was employed at Active Industries in Elkton where he was plant manager for 30 years. He retired at age 75 in 1987 and continued working for another three years as a consultant. On May 15, 1990, he received an award from Active Industries for 40 years of continuous work. He was a member of Bay Port United Methodist Church and was the treasurer for 30 years. He served on the Bay Port Board of Education for many years and later was on the consolidation board in forming Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Schools. He was instrumental in selecting the Laker school colors of green and white and also the school song. He was an avid deer, pheasant and turkey hunter and loved hunting ducks on Saginaw Bay. He was also a naturalist by planting and pruning his fruit orchard as well as being active in reforestation. Surviving are one daughter, Karen Bromley and her husband, Joseph, of Grosse Pointe Shores; five grandchildren and spouses, Alicia Kubacki and her husband, Craig, of Bay City, Kevin Cubitt of Ann Arbor, Michelle Sarka and her husband, Shawn, of Elkton, Tami Hubbard of Lincoln, and Goeffrey Cubitt and his wife, Kate, of Evanston, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leatha Chamberlain and her husband, Bill, of Saginaw, and Grace McGillivray and her husband, Floyd, of Clio; two brothers, Glen Henne and his wife, Audrey, of Bay Port, and Kenneth Henne of Frankenmuth; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one infant son; an infant brother, Gilbert Henne; and four sisters, Helma McCaskey, Delores Lukasiak, Leatta Lupp and Lorraine Kohl. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Alger Lewis will officiate with burial in the New Bay Port Cemetery. Clare Keillor Clare "Bus" Keillor, 89, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at North Oakland Community Hospital in Pontiac, where he was a resident most of his life. He was born on Oct. 19, 1912, in Oliver Township to the late Elijah and Lillie Mae (Smith) Keillor. Clare was married to Fran Keillor who preceded him in death. Clare loved to play the piano. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a prisoner in Germany for 18 months during the war. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Minnie Keillor; and several nieces and nephews. Clare was preceded in death by his wife, Fran; three brothers, Jim Keillor, Mat Keillor and Clayton Keillor; and two sisters, Lula McDonald and Maggie Morrell. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. The Rev. Richard Shuart will officiate. Burial will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery in Bad Axe. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to Colfax Methodist Church. Merle Mosey Merle Mosey, 77, of Bad Axe passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw following a short illness. He was born on Jan. 2, 1924, in Harbor Beach, son of the late Frank and Catherine (Wengert) Mosey. Mr. Mosey served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was employed for many years as a carpet layer at the former Reimann-Snyder Furniture Store in Bad Axe and also with Carmet Co. in Bad Axe until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, being with his grandchildren, and visiting with friends at the McDonald's Food and Family Center coffee shop. He is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Keys and her husband, William, of Marlette, and Connie Grifka and her husband, Duane, of Bad Axe; two sons, Kevin Mosey of Elkton and Keith Mosey and his wife, Denise, of Unionville; two brothers, George Mosey of Harbor Beach and Kenneth Mosey and his wife, Gladys, of Harbor Beach; one sister, Ruth Nowiski of Port Huron; and 10 grandchildren, Jason Keys of Grand Rapids, Jesse Grifka of Lansing, Cory Grifka of Bad Axe, Kaitlyn Grifka of Bad Axe, Michael Mosey of Port Huron, Chad Mosey of Bad Axe, Sheila Mosey of Bad Axe, Holly Mosey of Bad Axe, Stacey Mosey of Bad Axe, and Rachael Tanner of Unionville. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Mosey. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation for Mr. Mosey. A private burial service will take place at Colfax Township Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Jan Dykshoorn, pastor of the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. James Bieri James T. Bieri, 36, of Bay Port died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2001, at Bay Medical Center in Bay City. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Champagne Funeral Chapel in Caseville with burial in the New Bay Port Cemetery. William Lindeman William H. Lindeman, 82, of Sebewaing died Wednesday evening, Nov. 21, 2001, in Kettering, Ohio.
