Bucholtz, 58, life-long resident of the Harbor Beach vicinity, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe. He was born on Aug. 1, 1942, in Harbor Beach, the son of Emil and Bessie (Smith) Bucholtz. Wilford was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Hope. He attended North Huron High School in Kinde and was a United States Army veteran. He was employed at Chrysler Corp. in Warren. He had a long struggle with multiple sclerosis. Wilford enjoyed race horses and car rallies. He is survived by his parents, Emil and Bessie Bucholtz, of Port Hope; two daughters, Tandy Bucholtz of Port Austin and Kelly Bucholtz of Bay City; one son, Jeffrey Bucholtz and his special friend, Jennifer Landenberg of Kawkawlin; two granddaughters, Brittany Kay Bucholtz and Sabrina Ocean Bucholtz; two sisters, Linda Iseler and her husband, Milton, of Port Austin and Mary Lou Koth and her husband, Elwin, of Filion; three brothers, Gary Bucholtz and his wife, Janice, of Port Hope, Robert Bucholtz and his wife, Kimberly, of Harbor Beach and Gene Bucholtz and his wife, Penny, of Harbor Beach; a special friend, Kathy King of St. Clair Shores; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Hope. The Rev. Henry B. Malone, vacancy pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in the New River Cemetery. A wake scripture service will be offered today at 8 p.m. by Pastor Malone at the MacAlpine Funeral Home-Gage Chapel in Kinde. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of the donor's choice. Mildred Edwards Mildred E. Edwards, 88, life-long resident of Bad Axe, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe. She was born on Feb. 26, 1912, in River Rouge. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Evelyn (Harvey) Mayworm. Miss Mildred Mayworm and Mr. William J. Edwards were united in marriage on Dec. 19, 1931, in Elkton. Mr. Edwards preceded his wife in death on Aug. 13, 1976. Mildred was a homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading and visiting with family and friends. She attended Bad Axe United Methodist Church. She is survived by three sons, Frank Edwards of Verona, William Edwards and his wife, Barb, of Benton Harbor and Gene Edwards and his wife, Jan, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; four daughters, Janette Minnick and her husband, Frank, of Bay City, Winnie Cleland and her husband, Gene, of Bad Axe, Beth Sabaugh of Sterling Heights and Connie Edwards of Royal Oak; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Edwards; one son, Victor Edwards; one daughter, Wilma Edwards; one son-in-law, Richard Sabaugh; two daughters-in-law, Phyllis Edwards and Linda Edwards; two sisters, Beatrice Mayworm and Eleanor Axford; three brothers, Fred, Albert and Harvey Mayworm. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Edwin Herford Edwin "Ed" Herford Jr., 78, of Elkton, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. He was born on June 23, 1922, at the home of his parents, the late Edwin and Frieda (Eichler) Herford Sr. in Oliver Township. On May 26, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marlene Burgess in Elkton. She preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 1996. On June 16, 2000, he married Grace McPhee in Elkton. Ed lived in Oliver Township all his life and worked the Edmar Farm north of Elkton. He started Edmar Excavating in 1972, and continued that business until his health failed last year. He was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and the Shady Lane Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife, Grace; two sons, Dennis Herford and his wife, Beverly, and Don Herford and his wife, Ann, of Elkton; two daughters, Donna Steinman and Dawn Jahr and her husband, Stu, of Bay City; seven grandchildren, Christine, Rob, Shannon, Josh, Hayley, Heather and Zach; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexandra and Annie. He was preceded in death by his brother, Welland Herford. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Peter Crawford, pastor, will officiate with burial in Grandlawn Cemetery in Pigeon. Monday, January 22, 2001 Elizabeth Guster Elizabeth Guster, 98, of Caseville died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. She was born on Dec. 8, 1902, in Nero, Austria-Hungary. She came to the United States in 1914 with her parents, the late William and Susan (Philip) Steinbach. They settled in Chicago and in 1918 they moved to Caseville. On April 30, 1920, she was united in marriage to Joseph F. Guster at St. Felix Catholic Church in Pinnebog. Joe preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1964. Mrs. Guster was a homemaker all her life and was a member of the St. Roch Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons, John C. Guster and his wife, Betty, and Peter Guster and his wife, Elaine, all of Caseville; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Linda, Tina and Don, Gary, Lana and Don, Cheryl and Ron, Destiny and Don, and Crystal and Tim; 18 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Guster; sister-in-law, Kay Briesmiester; one niece and two nephews. Preceding her in death were two sons, Joseph and William Guster; two grandsons, Eric and Glen Guster; two brothers, Anthony and Carl Steinbach. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville. The Rev. Fr. Fred Siewert Fred Siewert, 82, of Bad Axe died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, after suffering an apparent heart attack during a shopping trip to Marlette. He was born on Jan. 20, 1919, in Lansing, son of the late August and Caroline (Bossert) Siewert. Fred Siewert and Dianna Wahl were married on April 18, 1971. He attended the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church, was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a former employee at Magwood Furniture in Bad Axe and a former member of the Thumb Sportsmen's Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Fred enjoyed his children very much. He is survived by his wife, Dianna; two sons, William and Jay Siewert; two daughters, Wendy and Mary Siewert; three grandchildren, Scott, Jim, and Rebecca Siewert; one great-grandchild, Jamie Siewert. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry J. Siewert Sr. Private cremation services were conducted through the H.W. Weitenberner Funeral Home in Bad Axe. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Tuesday, January 23, 2001 Robert Bieri Robert "Bud" Bieri, 75, of Caseville died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw after a long illness. He was born on July 4, 1925, in Owosso to the late John and Pauline (Brashaw) Bieri and moved to Caseville at the age of 12. At 18, he joined the Navy and served three years during World War II. On April 3, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Matelski at St. Felix Catholic Church in Pinnebog. Bud started his excavating and landscaping business in 1949. He had little money so he bought a horse and a scraper to dig basements. He also worked at Active Industries in Elkton for 14 years. In 1967, Bud Bieri and Sons Bulldozing and Trucking evolved. Bud was still active in the business until his health began to fail last year. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four sons, Ronald Bieri and his wife, Dolores, of Pigeon, Edward Bieri and his wife, Mary Ann, of Bay Port, Danny Bieri and his wife, Linda, of Pigeon and Robert Bieri and his wife, Debra, of Pigeon; eight daughters, Sharon Kanyak of Port Austin, Diane Adamczyk of Kingston, Patricia Cronk of Warren, Judy Bieri of Bay Port, Lee Ann Ruth of Pigeon, Mary Damm and her husband, Randall, of Pigeon, Kimberly Lawhorn and her husband, Troy, of Madison Heights, Va. and Tina Bieri of Cass City; 40 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Bright and her husband, Rod, of Leesburg, Fla. and Kathleen Bieri of Sebewaing; a half-sister, Thelma Pant of New Port Richey, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were one son, Kenneth Allen Bieri; four brothers, Pete, Donald, Jack and Jerry; two sisters, Florence Dorsch Anglin and Helen King; a half-brother, Edward. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Caseville. The Rev. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate with burial in the Caseville Township Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Helen King Helen Mary King, 77, of Lake Township near Oak Beach, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. She was born on July 24, 1923, in Owosso to the late John and Pauline (Brashaw) Bieri and moved to Caseville at the age of 14. On Nov. 26, 1943, she was united in marriage to Lloyd F. King in West Virginia. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1978. Helen worked as a meat cutter for many years at Clark Foodliner in Kinde before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Port Austin Conservation Club and the American Legion Auxiliary of Port Austin and Caseville. She loved her family and she loved to play euchre. She is survived by two sons, Gene King and his wife, Connie, of Fontana, Calif. and Bill King and his wife, Lora, of Oak Beach; three daughters, Ev Schoenfeldt and her special friend, Roger Fritz, Joyce Muntz and her husband, Bill, all of Bad Axe, and Irene Schelke and her husband, David, of Harbor Beach; 17 grandchildren, Debra, Kathy, Kevin, David, Beth, Keith, Bridgett, Michelle, Stacey, Amber, Daniel, Jennifer, Candace, Jessica, Benjamin, Robert and Dennis; three sisters, Kathleen Bieri of Sebewaing, Pauline Bright and her husband, Rod, and Thelma Pant, all of Florida. Preceding her in death was an infant son, Gerald; her daughter, Thelma Meissner; a great-grandson, Dalton Schoenfeldt; four brothers, Pete, Donald, Jack and Jerry; half-brother, Edward; sister, Florence Dorsch Anglin. Her brother, Robert "Bud" Bieri of Caseville passed away a few hours after Helen. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville. The Rev. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk, pastor, will officiate with burial in the Caseville Township Cemetery. There will be a memorial service conducted by the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 8875 at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Caseville. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mary Wolschlager Mary Jane Wolschlager, 65, passed away on Jan. 21, 2001. She was born on Feb. 25, 1935. Mrs. Wolschlager is survived by her husband, Elgin; daughters, Eljean Kizer and her husband, David, Susan Hart and her husband, Rex; sons, Ted and Andrew Wolschlager; seven grandchildren; sisters, JoAnn Stout and her husband, John, Sharon Harder and her husband, Tim; brothers, Gerald and Kenneth Karolinski; daughter-in-law, Amy Wolschlager; brother-in-law, Charles Wolschlager. She was preceded in death by son Timothy; grandson, Jasen; sister, Wilma; brother, Eugene. Wednesday, January 24, 2001 Audrey Yaroch Audrey Lorraine Yaroch, 84, of Fowlerville, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2001 at Sparrow-Diamondale Center in Diamondale. Mrs. Yaroch was born March 12, 1916, in Chicago. She was the daughter of the late Archie Lawrence and Frieda (Linn) Vallaly. Audrey met her husband, Ernest N. Yaroch, a native of Port Austin, on a blind date, while Ernie was stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard Ninth District Office in Chicago. Following a romantic courtship, Audrey and Ernie were married Aug. 8, 1942, at St. Henry's Catholic Church. Shortly thereafter, First Class Petty Officer Ernie Yaroch was assigned to the Pacific Theater of Operations during the later stages of World War II. During this period (1944), Audrey gave birth to a daughter, Kathleen Ann Yaroch. A son, Gregory Yaroch, was born in 1947. As husband Ernie continued with his career in the U.S. Coast Guard, their third child, Jean Esther was born, while in California. While in California, Audrey became very active in assisting Catholic issues in religious education programs and continued in this volunteer effort, as Ernie's Coast Guard career took his family to Falls Church, Virginia. Ernie retired from the Coast Guard after 30 years as a Chief Warrant Officer, they moved to Fowlerville in 1971. Following Ernie's death on Nov. 15, 1976, Audrey became increasingly involved in animal rescue efforts in conjunction with daughter Kathie's interests in the 'CHIN' breed of dogs. Audrey was actively involved in the Japanese Chin Rescue Effort, and in 1994 was recognized as the 'Rescue Person of the Year', at the National Chin Specialty Show in Fort Meyers, Fla. Audrey is survived by two daughters, Kathleen A. Morgan of Fowlerville, and Jean Opland of Howell; one son, Commander Gregory N. Yaroch, USCG, retired, and his wife Regina of Sandwich, Maine; seven grandchildren, Alyssa Yaroch, Brianne Yaroch, Donald 'Skip' Morgan, Kelly Lichlyter, Jason Morgan, Rachel Opland and Kyle Opland; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Yaroch was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, and a brother, Linn Vallaly. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. Father Mietek, pastor of St. Edwards/St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to St. Michael's Catholic Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Thursday, January 25, 2001 Ruby Engelhardt Ruby M. Engelhardt, 81, of Sebewaing died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Marlette Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born on Feb. 15, 1919, in Peck, the daughter of the late Charles and Eva (Wannamaker) Tenniswood. She was married to Arnold W. Engelhardt on Oct. 31, 1969, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh. Ruby was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh and the Rebekah Auxiliary of Sandusky. She worked for Yale Rubber for 20 years and was a seamstress at Eiler's Cleaners in Sebewaing. She is survived by her husband, Arnold "Buzz" Engelhardt, of Sebewaing; three sons, John Harding and his wife, Eva, Raymond Harding, James Harding and his wife, Judy, all of Sandusky; one daughter, June Farr and her husband, Eldon, of Peck; one stepdaughter, Elaine Wildman of Sebewaing; one stepson, Dennis Engelhardt and his wife, Sharon, of Gagetown; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.C. Tenniswood of Rochester and Robert Tenniswood and his wife, Vonnie, of Port Huron; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clair and Carl Tenniswood; one grandson, Steven Farr; one great-grandson, Ethan Harding; two stepsons, Duane and Gary Engelhardt; one stepson-in-law, Jim Wildman. Dean Gunden Dean Thomas Gunden, 45, of Bay Port, completed his walk through life and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, in his home after a long illness. He was born in Pigeon on Oct. 8, 1955, the son of Olin and Joyce (Swartzendruber) Gunden. He graduated from Laker High School in 1974. On Sept. 19, 1981, he was united in marriage to Lori Ann Gaeth in Kilmanagh. She survives him. Mr. Gunden worked on the family farm throughout his lifetime. He also worked for two years at Sebewaing Tool & Engineering. He was an active member of the Michigan Avenue Mennonite Church in Pigeon. He is survived by his wife, Lori; two children, Erich Thomas and Jana Lynne, both at home; his parents, Joyce and Olin Gunden of Bay Port; four sisters, Pamela Gunden of Sebewaing, Angela McCormick and her husband, Michael, of Pigeon, Yvonne Small and her husband, Robert, of Janesville, Wisc., and Stephanie Kruse and her husband, William, of Bay Port; in-laws, Bonnie and Clarence Gaeth of Owendale; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Michigan Avenue Mennonite Church in Pigeon, with the Rev. Scot Wilson, pastor, and the Rev. Luke Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in McKinley Township. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon and 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
