Local obituaries for the week of August 26, 2001 Sunday, August 26, 2001 Edward Kozfkay Edward A. Kozfkay, 80, of Harbor Beach passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 in William Beaumont Hospital of Royal Oak following a short illness. Born in Harbor Beach on April 12, 1921, he was the son of the late John and Martha (Goniewcha) Kozfkay. He and Elsie Gwisdalla were united in marriage on May 18, 1946 in St. Mary's Church in Parisville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in Germany during the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy Invasion. Edward was a retired employee of Active Industries in Elkton. He retired in 1986 after working more than 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach and a life member of Parisville VFW Post No. 5740. Edward enjoyed the out of doors, working in his garden and fishing and doing woodworking projects. He also was a guitar player being in a band for many years. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Kozfkay, of Harbor Beach; children, Marilyn Gosdzinski and her husband, James, of Trenton, Sandy Glaza and her husband, Gary, of Saginaw, Carol Herriman and her husband, Dan, of Harbor Beach, Allen Kozfkay of Harbor Beach and Dan Kozfkay and his wife, Sharon, of Port Hope; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Kozfkay of Allen Park; a sister, Mary Lou Abraham of Roseville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kozfkay. A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, 2001 in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach with the Rev. Gerald Kukla, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Parisville VFW Post No. 5740. A vigil service will take place at 7:30 p.m. today in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, where visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday. Leonard Paterson Leonard J. Paterson, 104, of Port Sanilac passed away on Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 at Autumnwood of Deckerville. He was born on April 20, 1897, in Applegate, the son of Edmund F. and Elizabeth Adeline (Smith) Paterson. He married Virginia M. D'Hondt on Feb. 16, 1946, in Detroit. She passed away Aug. 10, 1997. He than married Florence Carver in 1998. Mr. Paterson was a 1917 graduate of Croswell High School and graduated from Detroit College of Law in 1927. When he retired from the law practice in 1999 at the age of 102, Leonard was the oldest practicing lawyer in Michigan and one of the oldest in the United States. He was the Sanilac County Prosecuting Attorney from 1932-1937. He was elected State Senator for two terms, representing the Twentieth District from 1938-1941. After Pearl Harbor, he resigned his Senate Seat in 1941 to enlist and complete basic infantry training in the United States Army. He served until 1945. He then returned to Sandusky and practiced law until 1999. He was active in civic affairs being a charter and founding member of the Sandusky Lions Club, Huron Shores Golf Club, and McKenzie Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the board of directors at Exchange State Bank for over 20 years. Mr. Paterson was a member of the Applegate United Methodist Church. His Masonic activities included the Croswell Blue Lodge, Sanilac Shrine Club, Lexington Commandry and a past grand commander of the Michigan Grand Commandry of the State of Michigan. At age 93, he became the administrator of the Ethel Collar Foundation, which has given over one million dollars in scholarships to students in Sanilac and Tuscola counties. In 1997, he was honored by the Arch Diocese of Saginaw and received the McArdle Award for his lifetime legal and charitable contributions. He is survived by his wife, Florence Carver Paterson, Albion; one son, John S. Paterson and his wife, Mary Paula, of Sandusky; grandsons, Neil B. Hayes, Stephen L. Paterson, John Paul Paterson, and James Clark Paterson, all of Chicago, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lilian Chester and Hannah Paterson; and four brothers, William, E. Maurice, J. Harry, and G. Edmund Paterson. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Applegate United Methodist Church. Pastor Richard Cheffey of Deckerville and Pastor Emerson Arntz of Applegate will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Township Cemetery in Carsonville. Visitation will take place from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service today at the church. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Applegate United Methodist Church or the United Hospice of Sanilac County. Arrangements are being handled by Hacker Funeral Parlors of Sandusky. August Kiehl August Kiehl, 87, of Bad Axe passed away Friday Aug. 24, 2001 in Courtney Manor following a long illness. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City and a memorial service will take place at a later date with a complete obituary published at a later date announcing the services. Monday, August 27, 2001 Robert Fish Robert Eugene Fish, 52, of Port Austin and formerly of Grand Blanc, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Robert was born on Sept. 21, 1948, in Flint, and was a 1966 graduate of Grand Blanc High School. He married Constance R. Clark on Feb. 3, 1968, in Flint. In his youth, Bob was a Boy Scout for many years. Mr. Fish was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa, where he was a Scoutmaster on his base. He had also served six years in the Army Reserves. He was a mail carrier for many years in Grand Blanc, then in Port Austin and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1998. He was an avid fisherman, charter boat captain and golfer. He was a charter member and instrumental in the organization of The Flint River Valley Steelheaders. He was also a member of the American Legion Post in Harrison. Surviving are his wife, Connie; parents, Gene and Joan Fish of Caseville; sister, Anne Smith of Fenton; father and mother-in-law, Ed and LaVerne Clark of Swartz Creek; brothers-in-law, Terry Clark and his wife, Donna, of Byron, Ed Clark and his wife, Sarah, of Swartz Creek; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Danny, Jeff, Wendy, Carrie and Zach; great- nieces and nephews, JoAnne, William, Joshua and Correna; and many special friends at Bird Creek Golf Course. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Ethel Hessler Ethel M. Hessler, 80, formerly of Bach, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001 at the home of her daughter, Julene in Mitchellville, Md., following a three-year illness. She was born Feb. 14, 1921 in Unionville, daughter of the late Henry E. and Esther (Sting) Menzel. She was united in marriage to Julius Hessler on April 8, 1939 in Unionville. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1972. Ethel was a Christian homemaker. She was a very active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bach. She served on the altar guild; Lutheran Women's Mission League; the ladies aid; Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, Bible study and the Valpraiso University guild. Surviving are one daughter, Julene Pichel and her husband, William, of Mitchellville, Md. with whom she made her home; two sons, Glenn Hessler and his wife, Dorothy, of Redwood City, Calif., Kenneth Hessler and his wife, Carol, of Shelby Township; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Verlane Ertman of Grosse Pointe, Winifred Richards of Bay City, Marian Stack and her husband, Fred, of Unionville, Linda Hemerleine of Unionville, Shirley Otto and her husband, Donald, of Troy; one brother, James Menzel and his wife, Diane; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by infant daughter Carol Jean Hessler; one son, Ronald Hessler; and sister Beverly Brown. Theodore Lamke Mr. Theodore "Ted" Lamke, 86, of Parisville, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 25, 2001, at Harbor Beach Long Term. Ted was born on Nov. 10, 1914, in Minden City to the late John and Rose (Peplinski) Lamke. He married Irene Oberski on June 17, 1938, at St. Mary Catholic Church of Parisville. She preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 2000. Ted was a graduate of a country school and worked on the family farm. He worked in Detroit for a few years and then worked locally at Surface Mausoleum. He was a custodian for St. Mary's in Parisville as well as a life long parishioner. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Ted is survived by three daughters, Viola Church and her husband, Wayne, of Filion; Patricia Limbacher and her husband, Richard, of Carsonville, Lucille Paionk and her husband, Adam, of Parisville; two sons, Marvin Lamke and his wife, Sally, of Parisville, Myron Lamke and his wife, Joyce, of Ubly; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Isabel Wodwaska, Gertrude Oberski, Rita Oberski and Jean Lamke; one brother-in-law, Mr. David Oberski and his wife, Mildred; many nieces and nephews. Ted is preceded in death by one brother, Sylvester Lamke; one sister, Irene M. Fisher; nine brothers-in-law; and five sisters-in-law. Bobby Reehl Bobby D. Reehl, 66, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Bad Axe, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001 at his home. He was born on Feb. 16 1935, in Bad Axe to Millie (Bynum) Reehl and the late William F. Reehl. Bobby and Phyllis Roberts were united in marriage on Aug. 15, 1959, at the First United Methodist Church in Bad Axe. He owned and operated Bob's Custom Cabinets in New Port Richey, Fla., for 18 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of Hicks Road Baptist Church in Hudson, Fla., and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Bad Axe. He served as an Army Engineer, Specialist 5, in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Randal Reehl and his wife, Tammy, of New Port Richey, Fla., William Patrick Reehl, of New Port Richey, Fla.; one daughter, Sandra Snure and her husband, Fredrick, of Port Richey, Fla.; his mother, Millie Reehl, of Bad Axe; two brothers, James Reehl and his wife, Marilyn, of Kingston, Thomas Reehl and his wife, Pauline, of Gagetown; one sister, Barbara Scheibels and her husband, Jim, of Allegan; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bobby was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Reehl; and his father, William F. Reehl. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001 at the First Baptist Church of Bad Axe with Pastor Jay Barseleau officiating. Burial will be at Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Bad Axe and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Hernando Pasco Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Albert Buchholz Dr. Albert Edward Buchholz, 85, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife, Petey, by his side on Sunday, July 15, 2001, after an extended illness. Dr. Albert Edward Buchholz was born in Pigeon, son of Anna and Herman Buchholz on April 27, 1916, one of nine children. He grew up on their dairy farm in Pigeon. After secondary school in Pigeon, Dr. Buchholz graduated from Michigan State and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Dr. Buchholz went into the United States Dental Corps as a Captain in the U.S. Army in WWII. Captain Buchholz was in the Ninety-fourth Medical Treatment Battalion with the Third Army in Europe during World War II for three years. In 1943, upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Buchholz and Petey were married. After World War II, Dr. Buchholz practiced dentistry briefly in Michigan before coming to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in 1955. Dr. Buchholz was an Honorary Member of the Ft. Lauderdale Rotary Club and a Honorary Member and past president of the Ft. Lauderdale Executives Association. Dr. Buchholz was a member of the American Dental Association, Broward County Dental Association and past president of the Tri-County Association in Michigan. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and was a member of the Board of Deacons. He is a past president of the Lion's Club and past president of the Broward County University of Michigan Alumni Association. Dr. Buchholz helped coach Little League baseball and football in Holiday Park for many years, and worked for many supportive organizations for sports and athletic programs at Sunrise Junior High School and Ft. Lauderdale High School. Dr. Buchholz practiced Dentistry for 45 years. he has been a member of the American Legion since World War II days. He also served on the Board of the Boy Scouts of America for many, many years. Dr. Buchholz was a member of the Lauderdale Yacht Club. Surviving are three sons, Dr. William A. Buchholz, D.D.S., of Coral Springs, Fla., Dr. Robert A. Buchholz, M.D., of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Mark S. Buchholz, of Pembroke, Mass.; three daughters-in-law, Marie Ferracane Buchholz, Blair Schuler Buchholz, and Elizabeth Almy Buchholz; eight grandchildren, Caroline, John, Eric, Erin, Kirk, Jonathan and Steven (twins) and Catherine; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Emma. His wife, Petey, has said, and his family and friends say, "He was so special. Everyone loved him. He cared deeply about everyone. He had a wide reputation as a loving and caring person, always." A Celebration of Dr. Buchholz' Life Memorial Service was conducted at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 21, 2001. Tuesday, August 28, 2001 William Rees William "Bryce" Rees, 88, of Bad Axe passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2001, at Huron County Medical Care Facility. He was born on Nov. 26, 1912, in Lincoln Township, son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Bryce) Rees. He married Mabel Jean McDonald on Sept. 14, 1949, in the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church. Mr. Rees had worked on several farms, worked for SKS Heat Treating in Flint, as well as the ST & H Oil Co. in Kinde and Neeb Oil Co., in Bad Axe. He was a member of the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church and served in the US Army during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Surviving are his wife, Jean Rees, of Bad Axe; two sons, Roger Sines and his wife, Nancy, of Phoenix, Ariz., Bruce Sines of Warren; two daughters, Susan Tribble and her husband, Bob, of Lady Lake, Fla., Robin Phillips and her husband, Ben, of Bad Axe; one brother, George Rees and his wife, Eleanora, of Bad Axe; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Allen Sines; two brothers, Bruce and Wilbur Rees, and one sister, Anna Varney. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jerry Sutton, pastor. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe and from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church, Huron Medical Care Activity Department, or the donor's choice. Joyce Van Valin Joyce M. Van Valin, 71, died on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at her home in Caseville where she has resided since 1992. Mrs. Van Valin was born in Lakeview on April 23, 1930, daughter of the late Cliff and Clara (Bates) Imhoff. She graduated from high school in Lakeview and worked in the local bank before attending Spring Arbor Junior College. She graduated from Greenville College and later completed some graduate courses at the University of Michigan in Dearborn. She was an elementary school teacher in Lexington, Ky. and a substitute teacher in Dearborn. She married the Rev. H. Frank Van Valin on Aug. 21, 1953. She has served alongside her husband in Free Methodist churches in Pittsburgh, Pa., Dearborn, Greenville, Ill., Clarkston, Milan, New Middletown, Ohio, and West Branch, as well as two churches recently in the Thumb. She has served in Christian education as director, teacher, Bible study,community outreach leader, and camp director. She has been pianist, organist, choir member, and in small vocal groups all of her adult life. Mrs. Van Valin was a member of the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church since 1994. Surviving with her husband are their three sons and one daughter and daughters-in-law, Paul Van Valin and his wife, Becky, of Chesapeake, Va., Mark Van Valin and his wife, Linda, of Indianapolis, Ind., Carol Moore of West Branch, and Steven Van Valin and his wife, Jamie, of Ofallon, Miss.; ten grandchildren, Eric, Kristin, Delynn, John David, Jeremy, James, Andrew, and Matthew Van Valin, and Jackson and Jordan Moore; three step grandchildren, Brook, Mark, and Kate Benz; one step great-grandchild, McKenna Donnelly; and two sisters, Jane Freeman and Elaine Ingraham and her husband, Duane. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Marselle Moore. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Sutton officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at the Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, at the Dearborn Free Methodist Church in Dearborn. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, A Golden Rule Funeral Home in Pigeon and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Spring Arbor University or Greenville College. Ervin Walrod Mr. Ervin E. Walrod, 83, of Gagetown passed away Monday morning, Aug. 27, 2001. He was born in Verona Township on Aug. 29, 1917, the son of Nelson and Sadie (King) Walrod. On June 29, 1946, he married Zora Slaughter. Mr. Walrod was employed with the McNally Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator and the J. P. Burrows Cement Company as a supervisor, and had farmed from 1950 until 1965. He then was an operating engineer with the N. G. Gilbert Co., and worked at the Gagetown Elevator until his retirement. Surviving along with Zora, his loving wife of 55 years, are their daughter, Bonnie Kozan of Cass City; granddaughter, Jessica Kozan; special nephew, Leroy Armstead and his wife, Carol; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William Slaughter and his wife, Charlene, of Deford; special friends, Maurice and Judy Winchester of Gagetown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson, in infancy; and sisters, Lydia Armstead, Georgia Hazard, and Ina Walrod. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Gagetown Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Heim officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. today at Gagetown Funeral Chapel. The family has suggested memorials to the Alzheimer's Association. Wednesday, August 29, 2001 Albertus Chiotti Albertus J. "Al" Chiotti, 76, of Bay Port, died Monday evening, Aug. 27, 2001, at Bay Medical Center in Bay City following a lengthy illness. He was born on Feb. 15, 1925, in Elkton, son of the late John and Mildred (Johnston) Chiotti. He was united in marriage to Ruth A. Blasi on Feb. 15, 1947, in Kilmanagh. Al had been employed by the Department of Natural Resources for the State of Michigan as assistant manager of Sleeper State Park in Caseville and Port Crescent State Park in Port Austin for 27 years before retiring Nov. 1, 1983. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Berne, the Caseville Rod and Gun Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; five daughters, Joyce McGathy of Rochester Hills, Jean Maynard and her husband, Roger, of Lapeer, Jill Terrian and her husband, Dan, Mary Sting and her husband, Kevin, all of Bay Port, Tamara Schweitzer and her husband, Jerry, of Pigeon; three sons, Thomas Chiotti and his wife, Sue, of New York, Randall Chiotti and his wife, Cindy, of Port Hope, A. Mark Chiotti and his wife, Ilene, of Bay Port; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Schramke, of Saginaw; one sister-in-law, Onnallee Chiotti, of Bay Port; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Darl, Waldo, Elmer, and John Dale Chiotti. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Church, Berne. The Rev. James A. Gorsegner will officiate with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Glen McCracken Glen W. McCracken, 77, life-long farmer in Colfax Township, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Cooper Covanent Hospital in Saginaw. He was born on Sept. 27, 1923, in Bad Axe to the late Thomas W. J. and Jennie (Morley) McCracken. Glen McCracken and Alene Schember were united in marriage on Aug. 24, 1946, at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Bad Axe. Glen was a lifetime farmer. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and riding his "fat cat" motorcycle. He was a 35 year member of Michigan Milk and a 40 year registered Holstein cattle owner. He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1941. He was a member of the Bad Axe United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Alene; three daughters, Jennie Thompson and her husband, George, of Saginaw, Barbara Rasmussen and her husband, John, of Petoskey, Joylene Klooster and her husband, Nathan, of Charlevoix; two sons, Hugh McCracken of Otisville, Mel McCracken and his wife, Mary, of Bad Axe; nine grandchildren, Tom Thompson and his wife, Kelly, of Saginaw, Trisha Thompson of Chicago, Kyle McCracken of Davison, Rebecca King of Petoskey, Mallary McCracken of Bad Axe, Macy McCracken of Bad Axe, Mandy McCracken of Bad Axe, Megan Klooster and Isaac Klooster of Charlevoix; two great- grandchildren, Taylor and Abagail Thompson of Saginaw. Glen was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Louise; one son, Glen; two sisters, Edith Lackie and Fay Armstead; two brothers, Thomas and Ford McCracken. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Building Fund. Thursday, August 30, 2001 Joseph Maurer Joseph T. Maurer, 78, of Elkton died Sunday morning, Aug. 19, 2001, at his home while under hospice care. He was born on Aug. 12, 1923, in Rapson to the late John and Caroline Maurer and grew up in the Smith Corners area. In June of 1945 he entered the U.S. Army and served in Africa during World War II. On May 10, 1959, he was united in marriage to Phyllis G. Phillips at the Bad Axe Methodist Church. Mr. Maurer farmed in the early years of his life. He had been employed at Hamill Manufacturing 17 years and retired from U.S. Manufacturing in 1989. In 1991, they moved to Elkton from the Bad Axe-Filion area. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; a son, Ronald Maurer and his wife, Marlo, of Elkton; two daughters, Jeannette Brade and her husband, Gene, of Bad Axe, Nancy Maurer and her special friend, Keith Nevin; a step son, Jacob Herndon and his wife, Linda, of Bad Axe; two step daughters, Cindy Stamello and her husband, John, of Spokane, Wash., and Vivian Koroleski of Gagetown; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred Maurer and his wife, Christine, of Brown City, Jack Maurer, and Robert Maurer and his wife, Selma, of Filion; sister, Ina Quinn and her husband, Lester, of Marlette. Preceding him in death was a sister, Iva Maurer; and a brother, Vincent Maurer. Private services are being conducted for the family at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton. The Rev. DeWeerd Smith, pastor of Community Wesleyan Church will officiate with grave side honors by the Elkton VFW at Riverside Cemetery in Elkton. Memorials may be given to the family. Gordon Paciorek Gordon P. "Tootsie" Paciorek, 62, of Sebewaing died late Tuesday evening, Aug. 28, 2001, at Bay Medical Center in Bay City following a lengthy illness. He was born on Dec. 1, 1938, in Detroit, son of the late Stanley J. and Charlotte D. (Kovick) Paciorek. He was united in marriage to Nancy Kochanski on Sept. 28, 1996, in Sebewaing. Gordon had been employed as a welder at Ford Motor Company and later for Chrysler Motors and Saffran Engineering in St. Clair Shores before retiring in 1983. Surviving are his wife, Nancy, of Sebewaing; three daughters, Lori Colleen Kushner of Harrison Township, Kerry Baum and her husband, Wayne, of Roseville, Krista Lynn Cartwright and her husband, Stacey, of Deckerville; two sons, Gordon P. Paciorek Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Chino Hills, Calif., Jeffrey A. Paciorek and his wife, Ann Marie, of Chesterfield Township; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Rowloff of Shelby Township; one brother, Gerald L. Paciorek and his wife, Lee, of Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Greg Paciorek. Guadalupe Sanchez Guadalupe Sanchez, 79, of Elkton died Wednesday morning, Aug. 29, 2001, at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center in Bay City. She was born on Dec. 31, 1921, in Pearsall, Texas to the late Romulo and Guadalupe (Gonzales) Rodriguez. On May 18, 1940, she was united in marriage to Alberto J. Sanchez in Carrizo Springs, Texas and moved to Elkton in 1946. Mrs. Sanchez was a homemaker all her life and raised her five children in Elkton. She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon and enjoyed bargain hunting and shopping. Surviving are her son, Albert Sanchez, of Caro; two daughters, Alma Atkinson and her husband, Jerry, of Elkton, and Belia Frazier and her husband, John, of Marlette; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Schweitzer, 82, of Bay Port died late Wednesday evening, Aug. 29, 2001, at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Unit in Pigeon following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 25, 1919, in Cassapolis, daughter of the late Elmer J. and Ella May (Hotrum) Collins. She was united in marriage to Woodrow W. Schweitzer on Sept. 29, 1938, in South Bend, Ind. Hildred was a member of Kilmanagh United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Woodrow; three daughters, Mary Lou Adam and her husband, Larry, of Sebewaing, Janet Truemner and her husband, Lee, of Pigeon, Ella May Schweitzer, of Saginaw; two sons, Tom Schweitzer and his wife, Annette, of Curtis, David Schweitzer, of Bad Axe; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister-in- law, Vicky Collins of California. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Jo Ann; and one brother, Wayne Collins. Wilson, 85, of Caseville died Wednesday morning, Aug. 29, 2001, at Tandem Health Care Center in Lakeland, Fla. She was born on Oct. 11, 1915, in Wyandotte to the late Ernest and Emma (Warner) Nadeau. On Jan. 30, 1954, she was united in marriage to Glen Wilson at the Ecorse Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1990. Kate, as she was known to family and friends, lived in the Detroit most of her life. She was employed by the US Army finance office at Ft. Wayne, Detroit until 1953, when she opened Katherine's Beauty Salon in Ecorse. In 1979, she retired and moved to Caseville. Surviving are six brothers, Joe Nadeau of Naples, Fla., Frank Nadeau and his wife, Bennie, of Etowah, Ind., Robert Nadeau of Zellwood, Fla., Donald Nadeau of Holly, Tyrus Nadeau of Ecorse, and Raymond Nadeau of Kalkaska; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Nadeau; and a sister, Betty Hoffman.
