Patricia is our mother. She's everything God had in mind when he decided a woman would care for her children. Mom did just that and then some. She encouraged, complimented, cared, listened, gave, accepted, but most of all, she loved. She colored many worlds with love. She knew what to say and when to say it. She was always there. Mom knew children. She knew what they wanted and what they were thinking. She was a pro at figuring out why a child was crying. After all, she should know. She gave birth to 12 children, Danny, Grace, Eddy, Joey, Tommy, Matt, Kelly, Marty, Shawn, Michelle, Katie and Anna. Many of us called on Mom instead of our pediatricians. Who would know better what to do than a woman God trusted to take care of 12 of his children. She was so strong and very knowledgeable. We will miss our mother and grandmother. We will miss the cards she sent on birthdays, accomplishments and anniversaries. We will miss her smile and her contagious laugh. But we know Mom lives within us, and more than anything, she would want us to take care and love our children, her 22 grandchildren, the way she loved us. Patricia Ann O'Mara was born Feb. 4, 1932 in Detroit, daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Bridget (O'Grady) O'Neill. She married the love of her life, Joseph Martin O'Mara, on Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day), 1953 in Detroit. Mom and Dad were best friends. Sometimes you hear people say, "He could start a sentence, she would finish it." With Mom, she would say it before he opened his mouth. She had a great sense of knowing people, especially her beloved Joseph, 75. They lived a wonderful, loving life together. He showed her the world and made her chuckle. She showed him the world and made him laugh. God bless you, Mom. Heaven needs your light. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, Joseph; her children, Danny, Grace, Eddy, Joey, Tommy, Matt, Kelly, Marty, Shawn, Michelle, Katie and Anna; three brothers, Hugh Patrick O'Neill, Thomas O'Neill and Daniel O'Neill; one sister, Ann Sharon Rowe; and 22 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Marty O'Neill. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Sanilac. The Rev.
